sometimes life just wants to kick you in the nuts and laugh at you.
i sold my house, and moved and bought a new house..when my wife got a job.
i kid you not..the county we moved from is trying to hire my wife..(for a crap load more $$) she asked me if i could move back.. i need to wear a sport cup full time from now on.

Make sure that crap load of money makes up for the crap load of inconvenience and quality of life you may be giving up.

I feel your frustration.
A few years back I was seeing a girl who had a house in Charlotte. I had a house in Augusta where the company I worked for was located. She was a consultant, so it didn't really matter where she was based. We got married, she sold her place and moved to Augusta. One year later, almost to the day, my company decided they're relocating their HQ. Guess where? Yup, Charlotte.

Keep saying to yourself "happy wife, happy life" as your icing down your boys. Good luck!

For some reason this reminded me of the time when I was in the good ol' US of A Navy. All I heard for years from my wife was, "I wish we were out of the Navy!! I wish we were out of the Navy!!" So, what do I do? I get out of the Navy and two to three weeks after I do so, I hear from her, "I wish we were back in the Navy..." I'm not in prison, so you know I didn't shoot her...

I think my nuts could handle that sort of "abuse."
She has a job. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Imagine if she had gone to the new job and got "downsized" after a year.

Is a commute (for her) even possible? It doesn't make sense to relocate until she gets settled into the new job for six months or so, especially given the cost of selling and moving.
I made a lot of sacrifices for my wife's career and she took full advantage and kicked butt - but there was always a practical side before we jumped.

I was just impressed the country is hiring her back. What does she do, Jack Reacher stuff?

And thank goodness we live in the first world. I don't want third world problems.

bottle of wine + a calculator + discussion.
we can make it work staying put. eye on the prize..retirement on the early side. to much to like about where we live. we have NEVER both lived and worked in the same city. ever. riding a bike to work is worth a lot..i bet i could come up with a dollar value even. it's nice being home together at the same time. we have a lot of wiggle room since we have no kids. thanks for letting me vent..i just kept thinking if we stayed and she got that job..but no sense looking backwards. that's just stupid.

I think with my girl, you can have either a bottle of wine and discussion, but no calculator - or calculator and discussion but no wine. But wine usually defeats calculator sort of like paper defeating rock.
