Just received a PM that Bill Jones passed away. Jones Autowerk's Facebook page indicates he died just over two weeks ago. Also says shop is closed.

Hadn't heard that and it is bad News all right... Jones Autowerk rebuilt the 2.7 in my '74 in 1987 when they were still located out in the area near Stinson field. Bob, Bill and Kathy are/were as knowledgeable as anyone you would ever find re: Porsche 356's and 911's and were really great people to work with. This is really a loss to the Porsche community.

The only 2 shops to ever work on my 911 were Jones in San Antonio and Mike Callas at Rennsport in Sealy and Mike passed within the last year...

And the 2.7 is still going strong after all those years....

I was priviledged to have met Bill in 2013 -- spent 2 hours talking with him whilst waiting for my car and he worked on a 1946 Curtis Open Wheel Racer -- he was that good/trusted that the brief on that car was unlimited time and unlimited budget --- RIP Bill -- condolences to Bob, Kathie and Amanda -- Kevin Devlin, Sydney, Australia

Bill was a great resource for Porsche knowledge and general car knowledge.

He used to come up to the War Bonnet Region PCA Tech sessions and a wonderful speaker.





At one of the Tech Sessions we honored him with the coveted rubber chick award for his many years of help to our event.



Bill and his son Bob were part of the Tech Session family. RIP Bill.
