what would you like to see made into a move? or re-made?

one of the disadvantages to not having regular TV..i dont get to find out what movies are coming out.

i just drove by a theater on a road trip and saw they made Ghost in a Shell into a movie. i've watched all the anime, and it is damn complicated..and good. i cant admit i understand all of it. i dont mind how hollywood has sat on their asses and just recycled stories..some are great.

what else? i would like to see a big blockbuster remake of Battlestar Gallatica. or six million dollar man..hahah.

of course six mill is chump change now.

and remake DUNE so we can get it.

The Phillip Kerr - Bernie Gunther novels make into well done BBC series

Dune. It's a great book (forget all of the half-ass sequels).

No sound guns, just tell the story. It'd probably have to be 3 movies to cover all of the material. Did I mention that none of the sequel books should be made into movies?

BReif61 04-12-2017 08:11 AM

Isn't a remake of Dune in pre-production?

I'd like to see Hyperion adapted. Given how the story is framed, it would probably have to be a high budget mini-series though.

Aragorn 04-12-2017 08:21 AM

I think a movie based on the life and exploits of Moe Berg would be interesting. If you don't know who he is or what he did during WWII, look him up.

A BSG movie could be a blockbuster. Most likely would have to be a reboot with different actors set more towards the beginning of the journey. Past the events of Caprica.

I Robot or Bicentennial Man.

Only follow the book! Don't make up a 100% new story that is completely unrelated except for the title of the movie.

Yes, I, Robot told following Isaac Asimov's book. Then, I’d like to see these Asimov novels turned into movies. They all tie together and would make (IMO) a great series of movies along the lines of Star Wars, Star Trek, the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, or the Harry Potter series.

Robot Series
• Caves of Steel
• The Naked Sun
• The Robots of Dawn
• Robots and Empire

Galactic Empire Series
• The Currents of Space
• The Stars, Like Dust
• Pebble in the Sky

Foundation Series
• Prelude to Foundation
• Forward the Foundation
• Foundation
• Foundation and Empire
• Second Foundation
• Foundation's Edge
• Foundation and Earth

vash 04-12-2017 09:25 AM

robot series would be sick!!

or that series that has..ON a PALE HORSE.

Jim Richards 04-12-2017 09:28 AM

Hey, isn't Jack Olson a screenwriter? He needs to write some of these novels into screenplays! :D

Other than my screenplay on cloning DNA from the Shroud of Turin, Stephen Donaldson's The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant

Probably the greatest scifi series I've ever read is Jack Campbell's Lost Fleet Series. And I've been a rabid reader for almost forty years.

So if it wasn't impossible to screw it up I'd like to see that on the big screen.-WW

The Star Wars prequels.
I'm convinced there's a good story buried under the crap acting and crap directing.

The Battle of Britain, flying tigers, etc have the opposite problem. They're great movies that could be improved with CG dogfights.

Any Larry Correia book.

Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. And follow the @#$!! book. It doesn't need any screen writers, producers or directors adding anything.

Nostril Cheese 04-12-2017 08:32 PM

Rendezvous with Rama - Arthur C. Clarke
Feersum Endjinn - Iain Banks
Voyage - Steven Baxter

Saw something called "the phantom edit" a while back. But thought Lucas co had done a thorough job of scrubbing all that stuff off the net. Will look for it Later tonight.

Somebody needs to re edit butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid to remove to godawful disco soundtrack.

Cormac McCarthy

Blood Meridian but the movie would prolly suck.

Bob Kontak 04-13-2017 04:32 PM

Fantastic Voyage but I fear it would be too action packed vs suspenseful. The original was super save the technical oversights like the ship left inside the guys head.

Redo: Stephen King's The Stand. They should have done it with Christopher Walken. Instead they numbied it up with so much treacle you thought you were watching a chick flick.

Do: "The Red Platoon". One of the most vivid scenarios of war I've ever read (COP Keating in Afghanistan). Mel Gibson should direct. Fake tough guys like the Rock shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the set.

Sirens of Titan is an essential book in the Kurt Vonnegut bibliography. It was only his second published novel, yet many critics cite it as the book that hit upon the Kurt Vonnegut voice. A pulpy sci-fi plot about the luckiest man in a futuristic world who becomes embroiled in a Martian invasion of Earth, Sirens is also one of the few Vonnegut novels with a pretty straightforward linear narrative. Readers often wonder why it hasn’t been adapted into a movie. There’s a reason for that.

In 1983, Vonnegut sold the movie rights for Sirens of Titan to Jerry Garcia. Yes, that Jerry Garcia, lead singer and guitarist for the band Grateful Dead. For the next twelve years, until his death in 1995, Garcia claimed to be working on some aspect of a Sirens movie. But in a 1987 interview, the rocker admitted that his motive was more to prevent anyone from making a bad film based on the book. “I'm maintaining as much control over it as I can … to make sure that it doesn't fall into the hands of a hack” Garcia said in the interview, adding: “That's the thing I fear most.”

After Garcia’s death, and before his own demise, Vonnegut supposedly gave the rights and his blessing for an adaptation to screenwriter James V. Hart to write the adaption, but there’s been little mention since. So it’s safe to say that Garcia successfully prevented Hollywood from making a film out of Sirens.

Too bad....would make a great movie, if done properly.....
