As a long time die-hard F1 fan, I'm tuning out. No desire to see the races any more. The cars are fast and look good, but they just sound like poo poo and I really don't care for the personalities winning the races these days. I hope they figure something out to make things better. I'd love to get back into it.

Won’t be next year with the mandatory cockpit cage. I will only watch if Bobby K has a ride.

Long time fan too. Kinda sad, but Indycar is proving to be a far more exciting open wheel series, imho. The 2018 Indycar is smexy.

I wonder why F1 refuses to sell on line coverage the way MotoGP and WSBK do? I've been watching the bikes on line for years. I guess they'd need to drop network coverage and not enough $$$ online.

^Probably. As someone who does watch on NBCSN online I have to say, it sucks ass. The same commercials repeat at every break and the portal is super heavy and slow (****ty coding probably).

I'm hoping ESPN's experience next year is better.

If by better you mean F1 will get pre-empted by baseball, Nascar practice, college football, pretty much anything, then yes, it'll be better ;-)

Otherwise I sincerely doubt it.... I'm pinning my hopes on a pay per view solution from the owners of F1. Preferably something I can stream to the TV via firestick or google cast or whatever....on demand (not getting up at 4AM to see those turbo cars with Halos)

Something that is really starting to grate on me with all sporting events is the interviews with managers, coaches, owners, or crew chiefs during events. I thinks it started with the football coaches at halftime & spread from there. Like these folks are going to reveal some nugget to improve my viewing. It's ridiculous & most often whoever is being interviewed wouldn't say shyte if they had a mouthful.

I think the last two races were the best in a while with Verstappen up battling with Hamilton. Max is making it fun again.

astrochex 10-10-2017 04:47 PM

Kubica is testing for Williams tomorrow along with di Resta.

Its been 8 days since this thread was active.

Has everyone given up on the season? Although it was nice having Max in the mix the last two races the WDC and constructors have not been at issue all month. Yawn.

It's pretty much over. The guy with the best car won.

Yep. Ferrari made it interesting until the last few races. The last race was the death blow.

sammyg2 10-18-2017 10:45 AM

Ferrari, in a desperate attempt, answered the question:

"What happens if we turn it up to eleven?"

Deschodt 10-18-2017 10:46 AM

Well the title race is over....

I'll watch to see how Hartley (Porsche Le Mans winner) does. See if he still looks like a scarecrow gave him a haircut ;-) I'll watch Sainz at Renault, to see if it's faster or slower than red bull.... Other than that, yeah, it's game over...

There seem to be a lot of articles about Ferrari's internal collapse at the moment, "ruled by fear" and their awful attitude towards the press all year is finally getting reported on... I guess people don't care anymore if they get blacklisted, at least Buxton doesn't since he's losing his job, it triggered a bunch of "yeah, me too" articles... I bet the line at the scuderia's espresso machine is short in Austin !

Alonso: New contract is a long-term deal
Date published: October 19 2017

The announcement may have stated that Fernando Alonso will “contest the 2018 championship” with McLaren, however, the Spaniard says his new contract is a “long-term” deal.

McLaren announced on Thursday that Alonso had re-signed for next season putting an end to speculation about the Spaniard’s future.

But while the team confirmed that he would race alongside Stoffel Vandoorne in 2018, there was no mention of the duration of the contract.

Asked in Thursday’s press conference if it was just for 2018, Alonso replied: “No.

“We never discuss the contract clauses and we are not going to do it now, but it’s a long-term contract and we’ll see how things go.

“But I’m very excited for next year, with different expectations, and keen to put McLaren back where it deserves to be. I want Australia to arrive already.”

With McLaren switching to Renault power next season, the double World Champion is looking forward to a brighter future.

He added: “I took my time to really study everything that I could and we see in the last races that Red Bull were on the podium with both cars in Malaysia and Suzuka.

“We know what the Renault engine can do and that gives us extra confidence.”

It was a good race for every position but first.

BTW who picked Usain Bolt to interview the podium?

yellowperil 10-22-2017 01:34 PM

Me sad to the Max

I like tracks with less run-off, or it needs a more defined edge, or something?
