name one thing that you totally got your moneys worth.

My HP-48GX calculator.

i cant even remember how much this thing cost new. $199? i got it back in 1992 and i still use it daily. i do remember worrying about how much it cost over the TI-85.

the screen is now starting to fail, but it still works. i use it daily.

i found one on a big highway job across the desert, and bought one for $50 on some toyota tacoma forum..so i have two spares. i put my programs on all of them. i have enough calculator to ride out my career. :)

i cant believe the value i got out of this thing.

what is your single best purchase?

vash 04-17-2017 10:54 AM

beauty shots. i'm scared to clean it.

Cheeseburger!

t-tom 04-17-2017 11:03 AM

I bought it in 2003 with 20K miles on it. Now it has over 200K! And still going. I keep saying I'm going to buy a new truck, but there just isn't one out there that I like more than the one I have.

Bought a ALFA Milano over the Holidays. Paid 5K. The entire car is rebuilt mechanically, 5K on the motor, rebuilt transmission, clutch, new shifter, all suspension upgrades. It's like a NEW car, but 30 years old. Car is so awesome I'm sending the other $500.00 he was asking for it. Seller had to sell it cause he was moving to Seattle, WA. What a DEAL!!!

Zippo lighter, guaranteed for life

Schrader wood stove, has kept this home warm through many power outages.

Hand pump atop the well head...water during power outages

Hard to choose just one. Guess it would be the wood stove.

1993 f250 turbo diesel.

Bought it in 2006 for 2k. Drove the hell out of it. Towed a trailer up the alcan. Daily driver for years of hard winters. Sold it for $2500 because my wife didn't like it and we had too many vehicles. Sometimes wish I'd kept her.

URY914 04-17-2017 11:47 AM

My 914. Bought it in 1979. Still have it. It's changed a little since then.

I bought this in 1991. After 26 years of daily driving iit has 352,000 miles. Everything works, cruise control, AC and the rest. It is wort more than I paid for it and I have no plans to sell it. Just keep driving.

LakeCleElum 04-17-2017 12:06 PM

In 1991, I paid $8K for my 73.5 Targa.....Bought with 106,000 miles, just turned over to 130,000. Could probably sell for more?

1990C4S 04-17-2017 12:43 PM

My single best purchase woulb be a business bought years ago, milked dry and sold. Followed closely by real estate.

My Porches have dome well, but nothing like real property.

For real 'value' my diesel VW has been pretty darn good. I paid $2k and I've put 200,000 miles on it.

cairns 04-17-2017 12:52 PM

Every house I've ever owned and just about every Porsche I've ever owned. And a 1998 BMW e39 sport I should have never sold.

and the Ford stock we bought a dollar per share.

BeyGon 04-17-2017 12:57 PM

Our 2015 Golf Diesel we paid $31k for and sold back two months ago for 28.5 with the 65k miles on it, we used that car for two years. Then we bought another Golf.

This thing is the best, most useful tool I have ever owned. We use it everyday on the farm:

My marriage licence. Cost me $25. Years of "entertainment". Been divorced 30 years now and I'm still being "entertained". :)

Barbour Gamefair Jacket I bought in 1985, think I paid about 250 dollars. Still wear it today, had the zip and sleeves replaced last year, will last another 32 years.

Wayne does not have enough band width for my list.

My F150 just turned 19, Dryer 30, washing machine 20, Sony TV 31.

My HP PC FREE in 2012.

My 45 year old Yamaha FG 580. I bought it from the original owner 25 years ago. It is a sweet sounding and playing guitar and is my go to for gigs every couple of weeks.

Best

My 1961 wife. I bought her from the original owners over 31 years ago and she has never failed me. I've pushed her to, and often over the limit, and I've been neglectful of her maintenance at times, but she just keeps chugging along.

My sioux valve facer/grinder setup. Paid $1600 for it in 1980. Made $$thousands$$ with it, still ticking.

Devoz 04-17-2017 03:05 PM

I bought a 200 piece Craftsman tool set in 1985 that have never failed and saved me at least a hundred times what I payed for them.

The 48SX sill at my desk, and arms reach away. Altho' my 11C lives finger lengths away.
I have a 48G for work/gigs (not caring as much if it gets nabbed.)

Every other calc just seems Rong.

Replacing hot water heater on the far side of the house proactively. Our kids lived on the wing this was used for but have been gone 10+ years. They both make it home several times a year and have never really complained about no pressure. And the hot water was still clear. Not sure how.

The $7,000 I paid to replace my oil furnace with a natural gas furnace. Divided my heating bills by 3.

1941 or 42 epiphone zenith arch top. $10 in 1985. It has mojo / soul without end. Other than my family and dog, it is what I plan to grab when the house burns.

Couldn't figure out the picture. It's cool.

When the coin cell battery in the memory card of the 48SX died, you lost ALL of your Land Surveying data that you had collected using it as a data collector. The 48GX pretty much solved that problem.

However, Real Men still have a 41C, 41CV or 41CX variant on their desk to this day!:D

Best Deal..............

Have had several, but the latest would be a Winchester Super Field Grade Model 12 shotgun that I bought at an auction for $600 and swapped it a few days later for a $2700 rifle!

Joe Bob 04-17-2017 05:00 PM

Only thing better is New Years where you are with a group of friends and the new gal that you never thought would fall for your Bullcrap grabs you and washes yer tonsils. God's truth happened twice in my sordid life.

I still meet up with one of them. She was the +1 in my Las Vegas adventure, three years back.

Bill Douglas 04-17-2017 05:29 PM

My GF spent $25 to go speed dating. I'm sure she looks at me sometimes and would rather have the twenty five bucks back.

You wouldn't be the first to do so.....Hermosa Beach was prime hunting grounds in the 80s.
