BMW owners 2010 335d

Does anyone own a BMW 335d. It"s a turbo diesel w/ 258hp and 412 ft/lb torc. I might look at one over the week end. Need something to replace my totaled Prius. The Prius was a real Money saver but, not much fun. Too much window area. The front windshield is hudge and can't be tinted, making you feel hot even though the AC is working properly and the inside is cool.

The 2010 gets 36 mpg hwy and 23 city. They seem reasonably priced and have good ratings.

Not sure if the high pressure fuel pump is an issue with the diesels or still an isue at all, but it scared me away from the 335's years ago

Coworker of mine had one. Seemed pretty trouble free for a BMW ! It would go like stink! Unfortunately it was an auto ..

That high pressure fuel pump issue only applied to the gasoline version afaik. Generally speaking, the 6 cylinder diesel engines (.30d and .35d) are quite robust. A 335d is a very quick car and much more fun to drive than a prius.

A friends wife has one. Had it for about two years. Not a single problem so far and it has 90,000kms on it. Goes like a scalded cat. Very nice car.

I know it's a 5 series but TopGear did a good comparison:

That would be the understatement of the century. A 2010 335d is one of the more entertaining cars ever sold to the public. I had use of one for a while and loved to punch it when I had an unsuspecting passenger aboard. Should have filmed their reactions. "WTF is this thing?!" was the usual response.

More fun than a Prius. Yes.

Sure the Prius had great fuel economy but, it wasn't much fun to drive and I don't think I'll ever buy anther one. The 335d would sure be a joy to drive. It gets 36 mpg on the highway. Heard nothing but good things about the model.

However, I'm waiting for the insurance check from the totaled Prius. I'm getting $2500 more than I paid for the car. The BMW is still on line but, it's 90 miles away and I'm working at my friends place this week end. Maybe I can sneak away for a few hours on Saturday or Sunday if it's still there.

I drove a 335d last Sunday and I think that is the replacement for our TDI. Just waiting on VW to send me a check.

I have a 2011 and my wife and I love it. It is basically the wife's car.

Good: The Diesel is peppy and doesn't react like "diesel". Excellent visibility. Paint still looks perfect after 4.5 years. Good Room for 5 and the cargo area is decent. Mileage is decent in the City, low 20's with over 30 mpg on extended trips. And it is a good looking car.

Meh: some of the interior finishes have marred more quickly than I would expect on a BMW. Still looks great. The brake pads make very black wheels. I need to change these out for low dust ceramic.

Bad: It came without a spare and with run-flat tires. It does have space for the spare, so I switched the $800 per wheel tires to something that actually handle well and put in a spare kit.

It only comes with an auto and fuel mileage is not very good. So, it is out for me as a TDI replacement ...

I knew it would happen. Three days on Car Gurus and it's gone. Oh, well it took almost a year to find a deal on The Prius and I ended up buying on in Carson. It' s tough to find a deal 100 miles away. They sell fast

What were the miles and price? As for fuel mileage, it's good for what the car is. And what it is, is 412 lbs. of torque. This is a car that will really spill your coffee.

The newer one, (328d), is a 4-banger and gets considerably better mileage, with still very decent performance. But the 335d was a bullet. The newer one will of course cost more.

Only drove my BMW for the second time over the weekend, checking for the fuel economy, it got 36.1 going from my house in Minden to Reno and back. Looking forward to a trip to Montana this summer.

Haven't set up Sirius yet but, planning on Amazon Prime, instead for this car.
