Portland just isn't on my list. You are safe for now. We did look into Grants Pass a couple times but even it gets too cold. Thanks for looking out for us down here.

This year's wet season has even the natives getting restless...

My wife grew up in that area (Ashland) and whereas she would love to move back to Oregon she said that area also gets WAY too hot in the summer.

I love Portland but too much rain/overcast for a native SoCal boy.

We are looking at Washington state... but again I am worried about it being too cold for me.

True about the heat but it does cool off at night. Lots of SoCal car people in Grants Pass.
We looked at Fidalgo and Whidbey but just too cold and too much rain for my wife. and me too. We have friends that live on the islands and in Grants Pass so it was worth the trips. I have friends in eastern Washington but it gets so cold and too much snow. I may have to die to get someplace warm.

We are looking a little west of Whidbey, Port Angeles, it is supposedly 'the blue hole' in the PNW. I have two friends that are moving up there.

Still worried... don't have funds to retire, move, and find out I can't live there and move again... generally getting old and moving to someplace colder seems anti-intuitive.

I think Whidbey gets around 20" of rain a year but it seems to just drizzle all day every day. At least Grants Pass rains and then about 3 you set up the BBQ and enjoy the sun. Like I said, lots of car guys in Grants Pass and it's a different county from Ashland so the taxes are less.

Port Angeles and Sequim are nice. There is a bit of a rain shadow from the Olympics. Just be aware how far away you really are from much out there.

I love the peninsula life....

We love Bend, OR...but it's getting expensive with all the SoCal retirees moving up with money. Four season area, with not too much snow.

I just want to escape Bay Area prices.

But then again, I might just escape due to the anti-gun laws.

Absolutely.
Bellingham weather is crap, and the city is full of entitled college kids and burned out hippies. Be very afraid.

Oregon and Washington are going the way of California. Sort of California-lite. If I move, then I have to consider Montana, Utah, Colorado, etc etc.

This right here. I considered Washington but it seems that Seattle politics have a stranglehold on the state much the same as SF does on California. I'm thinking Arizona as a possible destination.

I love Portland (I know a bunch of you hate it) but we are trying to escape to Washington because of the low taxes, Vancouver WA. is just across the river, but still very wet (for my taste).

Also not sure on taxes... seems like most states give you a break in one area but make it up in another... got me thinking there is any tax nirvana.

I thought this too, until I did a deal there that integrated over the summer. Coming from here Craig, that dry heat over 100 for three months will drive you insane. I hated it. I'll take 85 degrees and humid over 115 degrees and dry any day.
