back in the water cooled world

'84 been sitting for (3) years--repaint, obviously needs work--and I hate the wheels, but I couldn't resist the price (nor the 20 HP gain from the R-Type seat cover) taking a trailer to haul it home this weekend

To me the 944 is the German version of the Datsun 240Z . Nice body lines just a little weak in the engine bay . Congrats and enjoy .

I like it! Miss my 944. Handled great! Always wanted to drive a 951 or 968.

Keep us updated on your progress

IDK, the real low point is that boy racer steering wheel. Yikes.

Dang, I've always wanted to get in one of these.

Looks great!

I really enjoy the 944 / 951 driving experience.

The comment made above that the 944 is an updated Datsun 240Z is spot on.

Beater 944's keep calling me.
Then I remember I already have 2 hobby cars that I can't keep up on maintaining them.

Thanks for the kind posts. I am going to see if I can get it running(WP/TB are tops prior to any attempt at firing), then make it a reliable driver with cosmetics being last on the list--use it as a kick around driver.

It is a power-rack car.

Fred--I am in Greentree. Owner found (1) original wheel and put it in the car so I don't know if it had cookie cutters or Fuchs, I will find out his weekend. I do love Fuchs on the 944/951

Yea, the steering wheel is another item for me as well.

No--it is located in Northern PA, I was in town on unrelated business and saw it sitting forlorn with a faded "for sale" sign in the passenger window-spoke with the owner, gave it a once over, checked under the hood, interior, etc. I couldn't get the hatch open to peek at the option sticker and didn't want to force it at the time. Found out the ask, then made a counter which was accepted. I didn't have my trailer, and it was a weekend, so there was no notary nearby who was open for the title transfer. Heading up Friday for the 7 hr round trip and title transfer.

The owner found some misc parts this week(including an original wheel) and put them with the car--he doesn't really know Porsche and didn't know if the wheel was a cookie cutter or Fuch.
