More old stupid stuff from my upcoming house move

Tossing out tons of old junk, I came across this old briefcase and tossed it. Thinking about it overnight, I retrieved it from the trash. My wifey bought it for me when I was a Corporate guy 30 years ago. I haven't needed it in 25 years.

I sponged it off and liberally applied Neat's Foot Oil to it. It was made by Rawlings, as in the baseball glove people. It cleaned up well and soft and it smells like a baseball glove. Stupid, I know, but I'm old and small things like this please me.

Cool, I like the old chit.

Hugh, that bag is cool as $hit and worth some good money. Fantastic piece.

Hugh R 06-05-2017 08:09 PM

Thanks Craig, when tossing schit for the move its easy to get stupid. It bothered me in the middle of the night, and I'm glad I retrieved it from the trash.

The bidding starts at $300....do I hear $320.....? :D

Some things a guy just has to keep. That, I understand.

Yep, that one is cool! Now I wonder where my 35 year old briefcase is....I'd like to find it....and burn it :). Along with the ties....long gone and good riddance!

You should keep it, but I can almost hear a thousand millennial hipsters near climaxing over the opportunity to have something like this. I think it might sell for many hundreds of dollars with the right ad

Very cool looking and built like a tank! At the risk of sounding like an old fart they just don't make stuff like that anymore... ticks me off how flimsy modern luggage is built so it falls apart in a few years... that bag will last a lifetime (probably a few lifetimes).

Edit to add, if you have a pistol and go to the range it would be perfect for that.

Google search shows ~$450 - 700 for new.

VincentVega 06-06-2017 12:11 PM

very cool

Thats the kind of this I wish I had from my grandparents. I miss them even now and using some of their old dishes the other night brought back good memories.

I can't believe the stuff I thought about tossing out, like this doll house I made for my daughter. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/958737-restoration-doll-house.html

I went through this as well. I grabbed the old pencil sharpener that I remember, as well as a kitchen tile from the kitchen. Many good memories.

Naw, hipsters only want man bags with shoulder straps. ;)

FPB111 06-06-2017 02:24 PM

Pockets are perfect size for TI-30.

Actually I was thinking all along that it really needed a shoulder strap. I never carry bags/luggage by hand. I'll bet a strap could be added for a couple $ and it would sell quickly online. Hugh, what are you looking to get for that?

I remember where you live. Please give me a heads up when you get crazy again. If you're tossing things like that, I'm gonna go dumpster diving in your driveway.

Just found the original shoulder strap in the original plastic sleeve. I've never used it. I'm going to Neat's Foot Oil it as well.

I agree with the ties. Suits too. Last January I vowed never to wear a tie again. ...But we plan to do a lot of traveling when my wife retires next year and that Rawlings is a great carry-on travel bag for laptop, books, iPad, passports, etc. Mine is ugly black, but the saddle color is way cool for a non-business use.
