2015 BMW TPMS Malfunction

My 320i with 6000 miles, yea, 6000 miles !
After 30 miles or 30 minutes I get a TPMS malfunction and then it does a reset.
After either 30 miles, sometimes 60 minutes
It starts all over, TPMS malfunction, reset
I have been on the BMW forums, found a post with my exact problem! No solution!!!
I have noticed on that board someone will post I have this problem, someone else will post , I have that problem too !
A dozen posts later... no solution, no more posts !

or get the car read at a BMW shop?

At Dealer now, they are looking up codes...
To be continued!

You'll need a indie shop that has either the BMW factory scan tool, the latest Autoligic / BMW scan tool / latest Autel scan tool with BMW (OEM) mimicked software. You may have a network or wireless issue or an update may be needed which only BMW specific software will be able to address. If there are no independent shops near you with what is needed, you'll need to go to the dealer unfortunately

OBD II scan tools for this is a waste of time.

Remember when people bought European cars because domestic cars had reliability issues?

I don't find it is the cars as much as the technicians and service people. Clueless. I actually had my service adviser tell me they did not have to change my oil while changing the oil pan gasket.

So far, all I see is a technological glitch.
The vehicle's reliability has not been compromised.
Have I missed something?

Wheel TPMS is not made by BMW, Justin st a pressure sensor. The BMW forums have many posts on TPMS issues, so it's not a that to uncommon . Wheel sensors and some relay/antenna do hickey seem to be the fix.

Nope. Just a failed sensor. $100 at an indy shop with a sniffer tool.

6,000 miles is abby normal though. Stay tuned.

I really love this car. With 6000 miles on it the car sits a lot ! Don't know if that has anything to do with it. Never heard of a wheel sensor going out this quick, but , it Happens. Lots of posts about bad wheel sensor batteries out there.

They wont even tell the owner how much oil the car holds. Not even in the manual. "That will be $280 for the oil change, sir"..

TPMS sensor came in... did NOT fix problem.
Back at dealer.....

Dmitry at Pelican Parts 06-16-2017 01:22 PM

What codes did it throw when the dealer pulled them?

chuckr 06-16-2017 03:32 PM

Don't know what codes. They diagnosed the "problem" in about an hour. Had to order the TPMS, took 3 days. After replacing the sensor problem got worse! Dealer now says car can't recognize left or right or front to rear and they need the car for another day.

I hate to quote myself but ........

Dmitry at Pelican Parts 06-20-2017 09:16 AM

Is there another shop that can give you a second opinion? - the dealer should at least have some insight into the issue when the codes were pulled.

chuckr 06-20-2017 11:45 AM

The next nearest dealer is an hour and a half away.
I find it interesting that TPMS came out 10 years ago and there are 4 on every car. They act like they have never had a problem with one. The BMW forums are full of posts on TPMS.

chuckr 07-19-2017 10:16 AM

Ok, update...
Problem was not fixed by replacing wheel sensor.
Back at dealer for second attempt at repair !
