Fun to watch Mr. Edelbrock race his '63 Corvette in historic races. Very accomplished driver along with being an excellent entrempreneur.

The mopar 340 six pack engines in the "cuda and challenger? Mopar had Edelbrock make them...painted them red, but Edelbrock designed and made them.

No self respecting Chevy had anything other than an Edelbrook high rise manifold and Holley carb. On my `67 Chevelle SS:

My old '77 Dodge Powerwagon has an edelbrock performer and a small (625 cfm) AFB. 4X4, so built more for torque than high rpm power...
I wonder how many here had something edelbrock on their various cars...

If I ever get a GM based hot rod I will drop a Edelbrock in it...
As a sideline I flirted with Camee Edelbrock at a local sushi bar once...

They were the first to really spend the big bux in thoroughly engineering their engine products to work as a system. Further, they spent more on just R&D than most other company's entire bugdet - from inception to delivery. Also, the first to offer 'Tiered' engine equipment / packages. IE : starting from basic everyday street drivers to all out race packages. There was a system for almost every application and every wallet.
They were the first to offer complete crate engines, new with all their latest top end products WITH a warranty. The HP / TQ advertised numbers were real. If you used their products, followed their recipe and were at least a half way decent mechanic it delivered what you ordered. Vic' s dad was a visionary, had the raw talent to get the company off the ground, Vic however took the helm and launched it onto the 21st century. He saw the future by implementing CAD / CAM before a lot of his competitors even thought of it. Later there was a point where they had as sophisticated simulation software on cylinder head design as GM engineering. The only downside at all - was the choice to utilize old ( early 60' s ) carburetor design by purchasing rights from Carter, then rebranding it so they could offer a 'carb- to-pan' engine. They have been and still are the worst carburetor available. RIP

One last point - Vic was still relatively young when he took over and no one in the company thought he was capable. As a matter of fact according to him everyone thought he'd take the money, party like it's 1999 and run the company into the ground in 6 months or less.
He proved them wrong..........
