Would it be ironic if I just watched that video on my phone?

This is kind of the way I feel here lately....went to Dinner with BIL/SIL (haven't seen for 6 years in southern Florida), and the rest of the extended family. After everyone was done eating, the phones came out, and Meme's, and cute videos were shared, but no one would just relax, and talk. We go camping with friends, and will sit outside around the campfire with no conversation, only an occasional chuckle/share from the technology obssesed.
I don't generally carry my phone with me, and usually find myself to be the ONLY one who isn't glued to it's alluring glow......so sad. |

"How bad is our addiction to texting?
It's pretty severe, judging by the Retrevo Gagetology Report (a survey of 1,000 people in their 20s). Among those under 25, 22 percent say they would send a text message during a meeting, 49 percent during a meal, 24 percent on the toilet, and 10 percent during sex." . Texting during sex: The new text etiquette . . My g/f will often be sitting here with me and she'll say, "I need to see who's trying to get a hold of me." Meaning, she just wants to see her latest text messages...nothing ever important...she's hooked. She's 63 yrs. old and will spend hours on Facebook. One day she posted 115 times on Facebook. Unreal!!! I'm embarrassed for her.

People who spend too much time with cell phone calls, texts, and social media are doing it (mostly) to boost their ego...or to help support a deficient self-esteem.
Take a look at those who are doing this and their lifestyle and work ethic - probably the 2 most important components involved in a healthy esteem. Then tell me if I am right or not. There are exceptions but they are not 'the rule'. The cell phone for many (not all) is the same as one of those baby nipple things they suck on when they need to be artificially satisfied....

Question: Ought we to consider PPOT to be social media?
It's a media and it's social. Well?

Hey Don...
I get my hair cut at a barber shop. In all the years I have gone to barber shops - and that's a lot of years....not once have I seen a smart phone (or any phone) in use by a customer. They just grab a magazine from the rack and start reading. Guess we're just a bunch of uncool dinosaurs...!
