Cayennes,Macans,Panameras make you embarrassed of the Porsche brand?

Never thought it would come to this but..

If someone asks I go out of my way to explain I have a old porsche and not the same thing as the SUV company porsche..

Last couple of years have got pretty bad..

Clapped out hood cayennes I see about every day and its not the same ones..

All these clapped out 10/12 year old cayennes running around..

There's one in front of the cellphone store there's one in front of the grocery store and there's even on at the local strip club... my buddy thinks it's a real laugh because the entertainer that drives it goes by porsche..

I guess I'm saying porsche is kinda a embarrassing mark now days. Kinda like 300s, denilas, chargers ect.

All this I had to say because today I saw the worst thing ever. So bad I can't get it out of my head.

02 cayenne on dubs, gansta behind the wheel, hat sideways (flat bill), rap music blaring and seat leaned all the back. Probably a $3000 car..

Passenger in my car says whoa... that's a PORSCHE.. wait a POOR-SCHE!

I agreed and realized at that instant that porsche as a unique and special car manufacture was dead.

Ok Volkswagen enjoy this whore fest of the porsche name to anyone and everyone for as long as you can. Selling 300,000 plus cars a year you'll have no hope of any kind of exclusivity. Heck GM might sell 3xs that many but that's all lines! Someday soon people will refuse to pay any more than a comparable lexus or buick because the name porsche simple means nothing..

I truly wish porsche would have went out of business after the dr weideking scandal. It would have been best.

That's just a people problem and a problem of scale. it's not really much to do with the car.

I've been pissed off at Porsche degrading brand ever since they stretched the chassis and installed a 6 cylinder in 1965. Damn kids, it's been downhill ever since.

By the way, does the OP speak English? It's hard to figure out what he means but I think he's disappointed with Porsxhe's modern offerings. Like I said, it's been all downhill since they killed off the 356. Fancy pants 911 drivers will be the death of the marque.

Yea, the real downhill slide started with water cooling.

I find my neighbor's 986 that he never drives, and currently sits in the street with two flat tires to be an embarrassment to the brand.

I also explain to people that I'm an air-cooled Porsche fan, that I love the older Porsches. I have an '11 Cayman, and at the risk of sounding like a snob, feel a bit embarrased about the water cooled hoi polloi, what with their Rite Aid tool kits and working on their cars wearing flip flops, putting their videos on Youtube shooting vertically. The whole 9 yards.

Are you really trying to compare a SWB 911 with a Cayenne?

One only could have only ever been a porsche.

One should have never been a porsche.

What would dr porsche have said about the cayenne?

Why defend the cayenne? Who can deny the damage it has done to the mark.

I really don't care that much. There's a critical mass of revenue that a car company needs to stay in business and it's been going straight up since about 1910. The fact that they're still in business means I can still buy much needed parts for my 41 year old base model from them. Like a brand new engine wiring harness for $131 and a set of new heads for $765.

Douche bros are everywhere. Even tarting up normal 911s with GT3 graphics/body parts.

Been that way forever....

Yes, a little embarrassed. In my 'hood, it's more like 17 y.o. girls driving their new Macan turbos while texting w their left foot on the dash.

Embarrassed? No.
Disconnected and disinterested? Heck yeah.

I don't even care what they do anymore. The Porsche company of 2017 isn't remotely close to the company that built my 1987 Carrera. "Form follows function" has been replaced with "form follows marketing and profit margin".

I guess some Porsche owners don't know that the pepper wagon isn't Porsches 1st SUV, and I'm not talking about the W.W. II tank either.

I like the fact that I can have a Porsche as a daily driver and an older model that I can use as my classic driver so I see no problem with the new models. If you are referring to those that choose to customize their Cayennes and Panomaras don't forget in the early 80's people did the same things to 911s

SNOORE. Does it have a Porsche badge on it? Well then, guess what? Its a Porsche.

Honestly, if a person in an air cooled car went out of their way to explain that their version of the Porsche brand was somehow superior to their current offerings, I would think I was talking to a nut.

It's sad but to more people than our niche group that is what they think of when you say porsche. Not a classic air cooled porsche.

Volkswagen thanks much.
