And surprise, surprise, I kind of like it. The orange gelcoat is blue now, of course and wing is blue also.

Love those shopping cart handle spoilers. But they really should take that stock trunk lid spoiler off.

asphaltgambler 06-24-2017 08:45 AM

Bleeeh. Ruined it. Just because you can - doesn't mean you should.......

I agree, but for some reason he took it off, narrowed it and reinstalled it. ??

I think he wanted to avoid filing the holes. Dunno.

If the retro Challenger was of the same era as the ones that came with the Superbird package, it "might" work, but not on that later style. I saw one at Mecan a few years ago, looked like dung then, looks like dung now...

I'm sure if one Kentucky Gofaster is good, two is even more gooder

yellowperil 06-24-2017 09:09 AM

We're doing one of the old ones too!

Good entertainment for us.

Mark Wilson 06-24-2017 09:18 AM

Holy hell that is ugly - the new one.

jamesnmlaw 06-24-2017 09:42 AM

Needs some stripes and STP stickers.

Tervuren 06-24-2017 09:48 AM

The original, objectively was ugly.

But it won races, and that made it beautiful.

The rear wing does have a bit of "kid" appeal to me though.

pavulon 06-24-2017 10:41 AM

...and also rhymes with 'kit'.

jamesnmlaw 06-24-2017 11:02 AM

That car and that kit are two ways God is telling you that you have too much money.

Of course, I did this to my car and then undid it. I [B]had [B] too much money at one time.

Whatever floats your boat.

asphaltgambler 06-24-2017 01:17 PM

The original was based on a RoadRunner platform, not the smaller 'Cuda or Challenger. BTW - the spoiler was functional, had a purpose on the race car but the real reason it was so high is to allow the trunk lid to open fully on the street version.......

yellowperil 06-24-2017 01:29 PM

You guys understand, I hope, that the cars pictured here by me are not MY cars. Just stuff I observe around my friend's shop. I'd rather not take the blame for this.

We're good? One more from the shop.

Sooner or later 06-24-2017 01:36 PM

Is that a legit Daytona or a clone.

aigel 06-24-2017 01:44 PM

That new version is just plain embarrassing. The rear wing looks like it does nothing it is so narrow and horizontal.

But hey, if it floats your boat!?

It's a legitimate clone, you know like a genuine imitation.

Sounds rare...

This ^^^ There was also a Daytona Charger version, but both were B bodies. The Challenger (E body) is just the wrong body to use as a platform.

herr_oberst 06-24-2017 03:32 PM

That wing is not good looking. The front beak? No, it's pretty ugly, too...
But then there's this guy. A fabricator who built an old Charger using a new Charger:

"Our story opens with an innocuous phone call to Philly-based freelance photographer, John Machaqueiro. An artist in his own right, Machaqueiro wanted to tell us about a prime candidate for a feature. When the usually well-composed Machaqueiro launched into an excited, semi-lucid rant about some guy on Facebook down in North Carolina who was cross-pollinating a late-model SRT8 with a 1968 Dodge Charger body to make a clone of a ’69 Dodge Daytona, it seemed too crazy to be real."

It’s Finished! 1969 Daytona Is Really A 2006 Charger SRT8! - Hot Rod Network
