Great tip Greg...thanks. It’s not available here in Ohio it seems. I might make a run down to Kentucky and see if I can find some.

I have a bottle of Lagavulin and Buffalo Trace left. Wish I could find some Corsets, Whips & Whiskey, that stuff is smooooth!

I was at Burbank Airport at the bar waiting on my flight and spied a bottle of Pappy Van Winkles on the shelf. Inquired on the price, $120 a shot. No thanks.

OK, here's my tip of the day: Tom Sims Kentucky Bourbon (I think it comes out of Heaven Hill, possibly from a floor mop). Don't buy it. Don't taste it. The nastiest swill I've ever had the displeasure of tasting. My neighbor was telling me how bad this stuff was that another neighbor drinks on a regular basis. Me: how bad could it be, I'll try it! I chose poorly.

These two are VERY charitable in their review:

For whatever reason that reminded me of this.

Drinking some Tejas Whiskey this evening. I forgot I had this bottle.

The Featherstone was an amazing treat last night. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...df6d8a041a.jpg

Thanks again for the tip! My 2 bottles came a few days ago, haven't cracked one yet though. Waiting for the weekend!

Ha!! Glad to help a fellow with quality tastes like mine...

And now for something completely different.....

Tonight... my drafting companion has been chosen. This is a Bourbon that puts hair on your chest. Its very manly. When I say manly, pretty harsh, like Jack Daniels harsh.. this one was meant to have ice in it.

Harsh to is not a quality I look for in a bourbon.

That stuff at 86 proof shouldnt need ice to make it drinkable. Ive got Blanton at 133proof and an elijah craig thats 140. Both are hot but not harsh.

CurtEgerer 06-26-2020 04:43 AM

I've got my own barrel pick! :D Actually, my daughter is an Ambassador Club member and they send free crap all the time. This was a special thing for father's day where they printed specialized labels.

A new discovery for me: Early Times. $25 for a liter bottle. Was in a whisky shop in Louisville last week and they said Buffalo Trace bought Early Times on Thursday. SO I figured it must be decent. And it is. So of course after they bought it, the price on the secondary market is already up to about $45 and it's in short supply!

Some responsible drinking over the weekend with my brother and niece

They are also not 30 a bottle. American barrels is a decent Bourbon I would not reach for it if it wasn't.

Had someone bring me a bottle of Bowman from North Carolina. Excellent. So good in fact, that I drove down to Kentucky and bought a case for me and my buddies. Great value for $34

What about special whiskey glasses?

Worth it?

greglepore 10-14-2020 01:38 PM

Up today-Issac Bowman Port finished. Wow. Trace mash, distilled there then 2x more in Va, aged and then finished in port barrels. 92 proof. This is probs 5-6 yrs old, but an 11 yr old version won worlds best bourbon in 2016. Its a really good bourbon with just enough "something" on the finish to make it very intriguing. 40 bucks, but only 29 here in Va.
Also recently had Ezra Brooks Distillers Choice Single Barrel Select. Bottled at 107! A really good deal at $40-but open it up with a dram of water.

Checked my couch last night, but didn't find quite enough quarters for this one:
(gotta love Washington liquor taxes)
