Good tips. Thank you! I'm getting ready to start the process in a week or so.

I have no idea why I have been saving a couple of bottles of whiskey I picked up from Texas last year. I had a really bad day today so I decided to bust one out this evening. I have not sat down and enjoyed a glass of whiskey in ages.

This is some good stuff, if any of you boys are in Tejas, I suggest picking up a bottle, the distillery is west of Austin and South of Johnson City, I was driving down a road and saw it coming up, just pulled in and ended up at a bar in the tasting room. Took home 3 bottles giving one away, and regret that.

I forgot I had this, its been one of those weeks. I think I have slept 15 hours total since Sunday.

My wife went to grab a beer for me from my beer fridge, except I am fresh out of day to day beer, I only have Dog Fish Head 120's aging. I discovered I have one from April 2017. Woo!

I told her it was a good night for Whiskey, so I went to my cabinet and looked in the back, I knew I had some, save bottles back there. I saw the Bookers, then I saw the Yellow Spot and knew it had to be opened.

Wow!! Very smooth, I exclaimed out loud, "I am really enjoying this 12 y/o".. then I realized what I said, so I followed up.. "Things Jeffrey Epstein would say for 300 Alex!!" my wife rolled her eyes. ..... because she knew...

EPSTEIN DIDN'T KILL HIMSELF!!

Dammit! I took the long way home a few weeks ago and passed right by the distillery. I had no idea. Thanks for the recommendation.

I picked up a couple of these in Portland over thanksgiving. I thought it was pretty tasty when I first tried it at Deschutes Brewery a few years ago, but haven't been able to find it until now.

I have always loved bourbon, but only in the last year or so have I really dove down into the more difficult to find bottles. My absolute favorite is EH Taylor. Very difficult to find around here, but oh so good. I’ve stockpiled a few bottles of the small batch and managed to trade for one bottle of the single barrel. If anyone could help me locate a reasonably priced barrel proof EH Taylor, that would be wonderful.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1591315136.jpg

All liquor is controlled by the state here in Ohio. They set a list price and stores cannot deviate from it. The result is some really good bourbon can be had at reasonable prices, but it is nearly impossible to find the good stuff. Stores are allocated a small amount of the good stuff perhaps one time a month. For example, next week I expect to see some Blantons hit the street. However, you need to be waiting in line at the store when they unload their shipment from the truck if you stand a chance of getting a bottle. Personally, I don’t like Blantons, but it makes a great gift. The average consumer in Ohio will never have the opportunity to buy a bottle since a stores allocation is only 4 - 6 bottles per month! Same with eagle rare and EH Taylor. We may see it once a month, but you have to be at the store when they get their shipment.

The flexibility of my work schedule and the fact I travel around my region (outside sales) has allowed me to figure out when all of the local liquor stores get their shipments and arrange my days to match. While some of the bigger stores will have 20 or 30 people in line, a smaller mom and pop 10 minutes away may have nobody. Also, while the proprietor is not allowed to hold back bottles for special customers, I know for a fact that many of them do, so it pays to build a relationship and do nice things for your local store owner.

Here is my budget tip for the day. Benchmark. It is a Buffalo Trace product. Same mash bill as Taylor and Eagle Rare, but only at 80%. A fifth is only $10 and its great to drink neat or with one small cube.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1591316057.jpg

Went to a local restaurant that specializes in bourbon tonight and had the little bit of Blanton’s they had left, holy hell that was good! Bartender also recommended Big River Distilling Blue Note and it was also quite good, but not quite the same.

I stuck with my "Toyota" Suntory whiskey from japan, best of European and American made in japan

I have been a busy boy. I took a break for forums for a few months, my productivity definitely increased. I may have to do it again. I discovered Caskers and have been ordering way too much from them since this lock down crap started.

Here are my shenanigans from the last few months.

Every year on my birthday I pour myself a glass of Bushmills 21 and sit somewhere quiet and enjoy it. I am not much for big parties and pony rides on my birthday. I find it a good time for some quiet and reflection. I noticed the bottle was getting low to I treated myself to a new one. This is $$ but so worth it, every time I have some I am blown away by it.

I picked these up from Total Wine, they had a deal where you order online then pull into a parking space text a number and someone runs it out to you. I am starting to like some of these Kung Flu changes. I was after the Rittenhouse (eat your heart out Greg) and decided to treat myself to the Whistlepig, I will report back on that I plan on opening it up tonight.

I am not much for gimmick spirits, I saw this advertised a while back and followed the company on social media. I decided to order a few bottles and give some away. It has a bit of a bite to it, I would compare it to Jack Daniels. The bottle is cool if that is your thing. Looks like a shotgun shell.

Caskers to the rescue. The Blach Bush was really good that bottle did not last long. I would get another in a heartbeat and would probably reach past the Buffalo Trace for it.

My local store just brought in Very Old Barton. Same deal-Trace mashbill, used to be labeled 6 years old but no longer...but its still 100 proof and 12 bucks and VERY drinkable.
People here in Va line up on delivery day for Trace and Eagle Rare. Its crazy. Bowman Brothers sits on the shelves - it's "Virginia" bourbon but its Trace distillate shipped over here and aged in a facility they own here in Va. Its about 10 bucks more than Eagle Rare, but its very good and available.
