Regarding Jeep owners?
On the highway, or city streets, Jeep Wranglers are driven very slowly. No, I'm not complaining. They're not driven badly, just slowly. I've never driven one, so I'm not sure why. Is it due to how they're geared, the short wheelbase, or simply that laid back people with no need to rush buy them?
What are y'all thoughts?

You may be describing a Florida experience. Jeeps go normal speed on the West Coast as far as I have seen.

Normal highway speed here in SoCal is 15 mph over the limit.

I can only speak to Jeep CJ's from the 70's and 80's because I have owned them . Short wheelbase doesn't help on the highway . Then jack up the suspension for off roading. Then add very tall tires . This equals a handful of a driving experience at highway speeds . All the Jeeps I owned were leaf springs all around so they rode like crap also .
Now take that same highway unfriendly Jeep off road it's a whole different experience . Like anything in life there are compromises . I am guessing the newer coil sprung Jeeps may be more highway friendly .

I’ve had four Wrangler/Gladiator models, they are all SLOW. Fun but slow.

Two factors in my experience, one was dealt with above. If you modify them for improved off road ability, you are compromising highway stability. The second is related to gearing. My BIL never drove his Jeep above 55mph. He said you could almost watch the gas guage drop at 60.
He bought it because he thought it was the vehicle he always wanted. Turns out his wants changed pretty quickly after he got it. Best Les

I bought mine down in New Mexico and drove it back to Nebraska. Kept up with traffic the entire way. Every Jeep I see driving in the Midwest goes with the flow of traffic. Except when we get held up by the border patrol.

My 2020 Rubicon Wrangler win the 6 speed was ok on the highway, but gutless. So yes I can say it was slow.
If I had bought a 392 one I may have kept it, got rid of it with 5,000 miles on it. |

My older brother had a base Wrangler...it was slow.
He only kept it a year...the uniqueness wore off quick for him.

My 2018 JL two door does just fine with its 285Hp --- not best for long drives-short wheel base and all. My summer convertible at this point. i have hard and soft tops. I like it --then again I like a lot of stuff.

I've had both. Porsche is the best thing on pavement. Jeep is the best thing off pavement. The aerodynamics of an off-shore oil rig. Short wheelbase can be twitchy at highway speeds. No top, no doors, doesn't get much better on a sunny day. |

The JK run from 2007 to 2018 had two different motors, from 07 to 11 they had the gutless 3.8L v6 from the caravan. Those motors will run forever but having just over 200HP adding big tires and a bunch of weight in bumpers, winches and such without regearing they can't get out of their own way. The 12-18 have the 3.6 Pentastar V6 is rated at 285HP, but is significantly less reliable. The 12-14's had problems with casting sand remaining in the heads and block that would clog radiators and other flow, in fact the sand would be deposited in the radiator overflow tank. The 15-18 got better in that regards, but they valve train on them stinks apt to wear and fail at a high rate. It's called "the dreaded Pentastar tick".
A contributing factor is dry starts due to the high oil filter housing with no check valve so the oil will drain back into the pan creating a 3 or 4 second oilless running at start up. I added an aftermarket Baxter filter housing that has a check valve and a spin on oil filter that oils immediately upon start up. I've regeared mine with 35" tires from the OE 4.10 gears to 4.88s, and us an app to reprogram for tire size and gear ratios so the RPM and shift point get corrected as does the speedo.

Are you getting tailgated by impatient drivers flashing their headlights in Camaro ZL1s?

I'm content with my 07 Jk. 75, 80 on the highway with zero issues. I didn't buy it for speed.

Lol, Amazingly I'm a pretty sane driver. I don't tailgate. What l do, is holler at people going around curves at 5mph only to ride the brake. It's like they're afraid they may be careening through at near death speeds.
