Erie is my final destination. Anyone wanna hook up for lunch along the way or at my final destination??

Visiting Rapunzel (aka RUP on this board) of Joe Bob's famous adventures of three years ago. I have known her for 40 years.......she blew out her knee and I am as a gentleman, going to help in her hours of need....

Taking the 911, two bikes hooked to my roll bar, top down and taking my 22 year old nephew with me.....18 ish hours....what coulld go wrong?

ROADTRIP!!!!!

Godspeed Joe Bob,

Post lots of pictures!

Sounds brutal. Just my own opinion, I'd rent a new car or fly.

Just returned from a week & a half saunter through AZ,NM, CO and back. The wife & I just went where we wanted, stayed where we wanted, & did & saw what we wanted. We rented a car with good AC rather than put miles on one of ours. It was a good call. Temps were mostly in the mid 90s and up most places. Coming back through AZ & into Imperial County, it was running 110. You'll love it with the top down.

Have a good trip buddy!

Joe Bob 07-07-2017 02:35 PM

Thanks guys.....

As to driving versus flying.....well, it's an adventure for my nephew and I don't have to rent a econobox when I get there. They are renting at a premium due to the recent huge amount of hail damaged vehicles from last month.

I won't be going mas rapido as I will have two bicicletas sitting up high center.

I will also be getting "special" treatment once I get there....

Pack some fuses, relays and the blue pills.

Pecker pills and relays, check.

I did the spade fuse upgrade last summer. AAA Super Duper card.....

Stop by Porsche Colorado Springs and I'll top off your oil. If you want...

Racerbvd 07-07-2017 04:06 PM

Drive safe..

If you get nervous, then imagine her naked. It's not a job interview.

Isn't PPOT educational?

Thanks, my 3.6 doesn't burn oil if at all. I WILL be due an oil change and debating whether to drag a case of VR1 and a filter along with me. 1100 miles one way is right at my change level both time and mileage.

Would you PM me your contact info and price to do the change? I could free up other space not having to drag an oil pan, the oil, filter etc....

If you need any graphics...they take not much space.....

Crazy trip!

Although I'd look closer into renting a car. I just rented a full sized car (Impala), it was $25/day, total. For a brand new car with 8,000 miles on it.

I had it for 5 days, hammered 1200 miles on it, all for . . . $125. I don't know how they make any money.

Just doing the oil change on your car would pay for 4 days of rental!

I've driven an Impala on a long road trip. The seats were terrible. My co-workers refuse to take them as rentals, they all want a 300.

So I would take the 911. And no great road trip starts with 'So I got into my Impala...'.

Have fun, JB. Wish I was going with you.

Life is short...

Take the fun car, an adventurous buddy, and hit the less-traveled blue roads on the map.

Have a great trip!

I think it sounds like fun other than the current temperatures. If you're ok w hours of top down driving w 100+ deg temps, go for it! Bring plenty of water in a cooler.
