Dance Rehearsal Videos
Video'd son's rehearsal. Bummer his hair wasn't done; didn't get the wild hair during performance. He had two partners for this duet, the girls alternated performances. I thought he had more chemistry with this girl. The dance is basically the story of a relationship.
https://youtu.be/F_LHJT_NNpo Another performance being rehearsed. This girl is a good dancer, looks the part, always has a serious expression though. https://youtu.be/Lzm7H8KdHO4 My son has been growing his hair longer. Which sort of bugged me when it was just a floppy mess (even though I had practically an afro in college). But it is now long enough that he can put it in a sort of samurai bun. ![]()

Cool. I've been in a couple of musicals (Oliver and Big), and am about to start rehearsals for The Addams Family. It's great fun singing and dancing on stage. I'm nowhere near as good as your son, though. He obviously works very hard at it. You should be very proud.

This is a fun one, about Elvis Presley. My son was excited to play what he called "old dying Elvis", he thought it was the role with more acting. The piece is a bit long. All the boys were wowed by the King's story and music.

What I appreciate about this level of dancing is the athleticism. A lot of hard work for sure to get the core strength and the stamina to dance that long...

I was cleaning out some files and came across this:
It made me think of your son. To me (I love to dance: beach music, swing, etc. My wife is really good at it but I am a bit of an enthusiastic plumber) the dancers in this video capture in about 15 feet of floor space what it must be like to be a professional...they hit about four or five genres of dance starting at 55 seconds. All four are excellent but the gal entering from the left is exceptional. Anyway. It may not be what he wants to dance, but the folks in the video are clearly dialed in.

As a former professional dancer, I absolutely love this. Thanks for sharing JYL, and kudos to your son!

That's a talented boy. I'm involved in an organization that provides performing arts to at risk youth in NYC. I never was into this stuff growing up but seeing what it can do for people and how incredible it is when done well like your son makes it a real pleasure.
