Porsche 911 R
Every now and then, car makers bring out something special for the purist… a machine that is purposely built for the sole pleasure of the driving experience. For this year, Porsche has done the very same to their beloved 911 by introducing the world with the Porsche 911 R. The 911 R is a race inspired, lightweight 911 that promises to be a purist driver’s car that is created to once again bring that connection between car and driver to the surface.
Unveiled officially at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the Porsche 911 R is the lightest 911 in the company’s current range weighing in at 1,340kg, 50kg lighter than the track-focused Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The car does away with the turbocharged engine, instead nesting a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six unit that is capable of putting out a sufficient 493bhp of power. To make the Porsche 911 R an even more involving experience for the motoring enthusiast, the car would be available only with a six-speed manual, no flappy-paddle nonsense here. Thank you Porsche.
