Sell your 911 now before it’s worthless?
Yeah, you probably guessed it from the title…
The world is changing and fossil fuel powered vehicles are going the way of the dinosaur. Seems inevitable that classic cars that are now worth tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars will be worthless, except for possibly those kept in auto museums. France will ban the sale of gasoline and diesel vehicles beginning in 2040. Paris has already banned the use of vehicles made before 1997. Norway’s ban begins in 2025, the Netherlands 2025, Germany it seems is 2030. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/jul/06/france-ban-petrol-diesel-cars-2040-emmanuel-macron-volvo Internal Combustion Banned - Germany Bans Gasoline and Diesel by 2030 While banning older cars isn't mentioned, I'm sure that will be part of it. Just like the Paris ban. Even if vintage cars can be driven with a special permit or only allowed on the road for track days, their use will be severely restricted. Gasoline availability will be a problem as will finding skilled mechanics, replacement parts, and suitable oil. I can hardly find 20-50 oil now as it is. With Trump in the WH and Repubs in Congress I don't see the US following in the next 4 years, but most likely we will in time. Maybe the next invention will be how to hybridize your 911 to comply with the law? My guess is there will come a point at which 911 and other classic car values will plummet to near zero, and it will happen well before bans are implemented. Once legislation starts rolling out, some states like California will lead the way, and people will see the inevitable and everyone will head for the exits at once. I'm not selling yet, still have some years to go. Maybe I should just drive it 'til it drops and then leave it parked somewhere annoying, like on the stairs of the Capitol Building.

I bought a case of 20w 50 on the 3rd, there were tons of them at Advanced Auto Parts. I had a coupon for it with a filter even.

I laugh at the thought of "fossil fuel" cars being banned by 2030. Wait & see...Or not. At age 73 now, odds are I won't be here in 2030.
Good luck, kids...

Indeed. Changes in government, changes in technology, I think I will be fossil fuel before the stuff is banned.

The world will be depleted of lithium for making Li-ion batteries that power electric cars before fossil fuels run out for sure...

yup - at 43 trillion brls yet to be pulled, that is a bit of organic matter to have accumulated over time especially when living organisms are 95% water. Doing the math(s) and the fact that when things dies other things eat them, it doesn't add up. Even if there was a mass extinction the numbers make no sense. The earth must produce it. Either that our its aliens or God.

Gov's are addicted to the tax income, oil won't go away near that fast.
Electric cars still don't have the range in cooler climates.
