CM has nothing to be ashamed of after tonight. He lasted 10 rounds w a world champion boxer and went out on his feet. Yes, he was about to be knocked out but still, an amazing performance that absolutely no one else in his sport could have pulled off, IMO. Major respect for the guy. |
it was an entertaining fight. that's all I hoped for.

just seen the fight : meh... for all the hype they did over this.
For all the money that exchanged hands. It did not convince me. First 5 rounds Floyd just let Connor wear himself moving fast and setting up for moves he couldn't do anyway. Like expending power but still having the brakes on because it's not MMA and he could not do what he would normally do Last 5 rounds Floyd kept up his pace, Connor slowed down and that was it. Mostly as was predicted... They all made a lot of money And a lot of people payed for a very expensive exhibition match. |
The better fight was the second match of the night. Those guys could box.

Enjoyed the fight. |
Watched the youtube replay. McGregor was whupped from the opening bell, Mayweather controlled it all, even the rounds he "lost" while waiting for McGregor to tire.
Kind of like Hamilton trying to outdrive a top fuel driver at the strip...or the reverse. |

Today's NFL players are just too big, fast, and strong. You'd have to slow the sport down considerably. Interesting read. Evolution of the NFL Player | NFL Football Operations |

There was really no "tape" for Mayweather to study. Advantage MacGregor. Mayweather really had only two choices. Go in aggressively for a quick win and leave himself open for getting his clock cleaned or do what has worked his entire career, rely on his defensive skills to buy him time to figure out how MacGregor fights. Get a sense of his style, timing, how he reacts to offense and let him wear himself down. A professional fighter is going to get hit, no way around that and Floyd knew exactly what he was doing. The fight went exactly the way he wanted it to go including taking some shots early on. |

McGregor has nothing to be ashamed about or to apologize for, he did his best and it was much better than anyone would have guessed. Payday for both, everyone should be happy. My only complaints is that it was on so late (Eastern Standard Time), and my buddy's outdoor viewing setup got real cold. I dressed in layers but was still a popsicle. All it cost me was a Costco cheesecake and some Sander's hot fudge that I got on sale. Good food, good cigars, good friends, a time to remember. |

I would like to see McGregor pursue his boxing career a bit further. He might actually have a future in it... |
Best part - that fabulous Lennon voice. Jimmy Lennon, Jr.

I thought the fight was stopped one KO too early.

enough for most to be able to retire if he wanted too. But he will end up a like a classic poor dumb knocked out one to many times irishman if he keeps up his current game. Cause sooner or later he will get his bells rung in or out of the ring, and sooner or later his ability to earn money will be surpassed by his ability to loose money on lawyers and entourage. |

I follow him on Instagram, he is the epitome of what we call trailer trash here in the States. He is no enamored with his expensive watches cars etc... It is hard to watch him pissing his money away so fast. For a month after the fight he was on a hired mega yacht in the Mediterranean touring. He always flies private. I know it is not in the fabric of people like him, IMHO he hit the lottery and with a few smart moves could disappear and live a very comfortable life. I predicted a month after the fight he will be through his money and go looking for another big payday. He may have ruined that with his antics the other night in NY. |
He'll repeat that until he finds and fights one to many paydays and end up drooling in a wheelchair while his last dollar or euro is stolen from under his wheelchair cushion..
But the Irish in Dublin's poor areas will talk bout his legendary fighting for hundres of years to come..cause that's all they have.So he has got that going for him which is nice |
