Bwahahaha!

Man up and watch it on TV tonight, dude!

Not quite. The eclipse does not impress me. I am impressed however that such a large portion of the population apparently does whatever facebook tells it to do.

I've seen eclipses before, they are really no big deal.
If were "in the path of totality" or whatever that stupid catch phrase is, I would still have better things to do.

70SATMan 08-21-2017 08:15 AM

Sammy, not impressed by one of Gods greatest celestial displays.

GH85Carrera 08-21-2017 08:23 AM

I do love the FACT that the science deniers are NOT denying the eclipse as a fact. They deny science took men to the moon and back, they deny vaccines are a good thing. There really are thousands of people they believe the earth is flat and deny they science of orbits and physics the planets orbit the sun. Of course some 8% of American believe Elvis is alive so maybe it is no surprising that the fools deny medical sciences and go for homeopathic poppycock or crystals.

This eclipse was predicted and written up in science books back in the 1960s.

No is is denying what is happening today.

10:00 AM here in the path. Clear sky. Looking out the window, I'd surmise the light is definitely dimmer. Cindy watching the TV hype. Kind of weird to see the light dim when the shadows are from the sun in the eastern sky.

We didn't bother to buy glasses, so not going outside.

10:22 AM now...getting light again. I feel sorry for those who travelled far to be here.

As good as it's gonna get in SFO...

Surprised at how bright it is outside even with 70% of the sun gone ! way lighter than pic suggests (behind filter)

LakeCleElum 08-21-2017 09:43 AM

92% Eclipse here in Lake Cle Elum. Great view from the front porch...Never got as dark as I thought it would, but tempature sure dropped....

wdfifteen 08-21-2017 09:49 AM

Arggg!

It was clear all morning. I got my camera set up at 12:30 and took some test shots. By 1:00 the clouds had moved in and there was NO view of the sun. Guess I'll watch on tv.

At 12:30

At 1:00 - just imagine a snowstorm.

cabmandone 08-21-2017 10:05 AM

A bit freaky! A big storm tolled in right as the eclipse was starting.

cabmandone 08-21-2017 10:07 AM

This is fire and brimstone stuff! HUGE hail storm now.

I see shadows every day.
I have seen eclipses before. A shadow of the moon is a great celestial display? really?

Seems as if some folks don't understand what an eclipse really is.

Look, I can put my hand up to keep the sunlight out of my eyes. HEY IT'S AN ECLIPSE!

Sammy do you see shadows like this everyday? No you don't. That is what is cool about it.

At the peak here in OKC.

I was driving a short time later and forgot to put on sunglasses. The light looked like I had my sunglasses on. When I put on the sunglasses that I always wear when driving it was almost too dark. To be clear, I was NOT looking at the sun, just the traffic and the road in front of me for normal driving.

cashflyer 08-21-2017 10:54 AM

I guess my filter was a little too dark.

Greenville was perfect viewing today. 90% clear skies. saw the same shadow effect on the driveway noted above too. This is with Samsung S7 phone, max zoom during the peak of the eclipse.

The second one is of the crescent shaped shadows on the driveway. Very cool too.

Well....I can look up most humd, summer days in the afternoon and see a bunch of clouds....today was no different :(.

Can't wait 'til they air a repeat of Geraldo opening Al Capone's vault however :)

URY914 08-21-2017 11:21 AM

It was too cloudy here in Jax. Total fake news event hyped by the media. ;)

onewhippedpuppy 08-21-2017 11:22 AM

Glen, I saw the same shadows in KS. Pretty cool. Very surprised how bright it still was, we were something like 93%. Looked like early evening. I'm always happy to see people get excited about science stuff.

JavaBrewer 08-21-2017 11:26 AM

Here in North county San Diego we noticed the brightness and heat dropped noticeably. It was fun to walk from a shade spot to full sun and not feel any temperature change. Lasted 10 minutes or so before it was back to normal. Watched live on CNN and I'm glad that folks who travelled to 100% zones were happy for the effort.
