Kitchen is Done!
Actually it was done several months ago but I was lazy and didn't have pictures. Almost 10 years in the house, this was the last big project. We actually did all of the plumbing and electrical about 8 years ago before finishing the basement. We combined the eat in kitchen and existing kitchen, full gut and everything moved. I did basically everything but the cabinets. Crappy phone pictures but you get the idea.

Outstanding!
Nine foot ceilings, right? Love the wood. Is that a deck or breezeway door with the curtain? That is a great idea.

Good stuff. Interesting that you went with a different color for the island vs the counters.

Thanks guys! Yeah 9' ceilings. The wood is quarter sawn red oak and the countertops are quartz. The wife picked everything, I'm just the labor.

Looks a bit like Rick Bayless's kitchen. But he has a cooktop in the center island.

Nice! We got our Quartz counters done in November and I finished the tile backsplash a few months ago. Still have to do the fooor though! Not looking forward to breaking out all that tile.

Be sure to wear your old work flip flops, not the ones for light household chores.

The floor was a good solid 12 hours, I had a hard time getting out of bed the next day.

What was the old floor?
I think we are going to go back in with vinyl plank. |

Beautiful kitchen, I'm "working" on mine currently- had to rush and finish my electrical before the permit expired. Had a year to do a couple days of work and pushed it to almost the last day.

Fugly 12x12 laminate wood that was starting to separate. Countertop was all 2x2 tile. I need to find a before pic, it wasn't pretty.

G'day!

![]() VERY nice, Matt...congratulations! I'm lucky that my house was updated by 2nd owner before me. ![]() Of course, the outside needed a TON of work. Which worked out perfect for me.

I think it's elegant. Congrats. It must feel good to have it finished.

Built-in kegerator eh? Very nice. I'll have to check the rulebook, but I think that entitles you to a Platinum+ level Man Card.

Where does the Espresso machine go? Where is the 25K BTU Gas Wok Burner, with over sized range hood to suck up all the smoke? Why one of those Induction cook tops and not a semi pro gas range (you don't get enough o heat out of those Inductions), Where is the Warming oven? The Island is a waste as it has no utilitarian work value. To sit down to eat at the Island is such an American cliche.
On a personal note you have to bend over and dig through those bottom drawer refers to find what you want. You do have the double ovens and the cabinetry and counter top does look pretty...a walk in Pantry is nice...and the Sliding door to the Patio is kool so you can easily get to the BBQ area. When I look at a kitchen I think ergonomics... how far from the fridge to the stove to the sink and Pantry..also amount of work space, cabinet space available. I cook in a kitchen Now I will tell ya I have a big ole kitchen but you have to practically walk around the horn of Africa to get from my stove to the sink..which makes it a lousy kitchen to work in. Your realistically practical work space is from the Sink to the Stove.. The Kegerator...is a novelty (how much beer are you really going to drink anyway to make it worthwhile? so after awhile it is just going to sit unused) And if you do drink that much U need the phone number to AA. . A sink would have been better cause then you could have put in a water line for an Espresso maker...which i understand is a personal preference...I use it everyday, and in a household so can the wifey...and MIL. It really is a nice kitchen that could have come right out of AD...
