you don't always get want you want....dog

Wife and I made a list;
Female
Small
Older
Minimal shedding.

Let me introduce "Hank"

Male
Big
Young
Major shedder.

Wife did the Jedi mind trick on me. Hank was headed to the pound, or a life as a guard dog for a pot farm.

Oh well.

Baz 07-29-2017 09:07 AM

Congrats and thanks for the rescue...he looks like the Paul Newman of dogs.....very cool.

Must be the eyes....

BTW...my girlfriend just lost her Dad. His name? Yup....Hank.

Keep us posted, Cliff.....in dog thread, if possible.... :)

dad911 07-29-2017 09:10 AM

He'll respond eventually, keep trying.

Love to hear rescue stories.

Nice dog! Good job saving him... just my thing when I get a pet I randomly call out names (usually something I see while I'm reading) until they respond.

However I have noticed the ladies in our lives prefer to pick their name for them.

I fortunately I was able to intervene on Marshal:

Hank reminds me of my daughter's dog, Snoop (RIP). Lots of character in that face ..

varmint 07-29-2017 10:39 AM

looks more like a hank anyway.

Taz's Master 07-29-2017 11:46 AM

He sure does look like a Hank. One syllable's better anyhow. Spend lots of time with him and enjoy your expanded family.

scottmandue 07-29-2017 12:23 PM

Rasputin!

gassy 07-29-2017 12:35 PM

Wow beautiful. Congrats.

AFC-911 07-29-2017 01:35 PM

I prefer girl dogs than boy dogs, but congrats. They're all wonderful.

Bugsinrugs 07-29-2017 01:46 PM

Good for you and giving one a home.

I've been fortunate with 3 rescue dogs, all excellent.

I wouldn't either if my name was Hank :)

aigel 07-30-2017 11:07 AM

Great looking dog. You don't want to walk some poodle lap dog anyway. And it wouldn't keep up on runs or on the MTB!

He looks like he may be good to take pig hunting! How is his nose? Any game drive? :)

Not sure if you are kidding about changing his name, but just starting to call him both names for a week, then switch to the new one will get the job done. I have met several people with a dog they took over from someone else, hating the name but keeping it because they thought it can't be changed on an older dog.

That said, I do like "Hank" ... old guy names are cool for dogs.

Change his name to Avatar, and that dawg won't hunt....I'm just sayin...

Go get 'em HANK!
Go get 'em Avatar.

See what I mean :)

Teddy says hi to another rescue! And you need to teach hank yo help in the garage like teddy!

Bill Douglas 07-30-2017 02:00 PM

Stick with him. These things take time...

I had real problems with my cat. Lots of biting, scratching, sleeps all day and goes out all night. But he's gradually coming around.
