Suggestions for Autocross Videos, not in the car variety

I have a camera mount that clips to the bill of a ball cap. There is a threaded piece that goes into the little spot on the bottom of the camera, allows me to mount the little Midland video camera or my Canon Sureshot. They both capture video and audio and allow me to get footage of wherever I am looking.

Aside from not spinning around or making quick motions, any suggestions? If I am the starter, it is sort of nice, because I can chat with them a bit, and still see the course. I blocked the camera with the golf umbrella a little the first time, but am not putting that down, because when it is 107*, you want some shade both for me and the person in the car, especially if they are exposed to the sun, like in one of those glass top C4 Corvettes or a Miata, which both seem pretty ubiquitous.

I am open to suggestions. I know to avoid quick moves with the head. If I am working the course, I try to pick a station with a good view. I don't know about music, unless I could do it and keep the sound of the cars, because that is music to my ears. Windows Live Movie Maker is the software on my computer for this.

EDIT

Sorry you want something so you can record while course working?

I thought in car helmet mount at first. My bad.

I guess that would be pretty cool since you are technically not allowed to hold a camera and record while working course.

That should make for some fun video's from a cool vantage point. Would love to see some raw footage regardless of umbrella issues.

I have a Contour mounted on the right side of my helmet. Works great, maybe you can figure out a mount for yours that would attach it to the helmet.

Here is a video of mine in my old RX8. Kind of a weird visual, but it shows you where you are looking which is what I was after.

If you are planning to video the cars on course I suspect you will find the camera has way too wide of an angle view. The cars will be tiny specs as the go past. It might be cool to have, I guess it does not cost anything to shoot them so have fun.

I actually already have the mount that goes on the bill of a baseball cap. This was recorded with the Canon Sureshot, mounted to bill of the cap. After about 2 hours out on the course, was getting pretty tired.

I think our region's rules say no picture taking while working the course... Also no drones.

Would've been nice to have a drone shot.

We are okay as long as they are mounted. Starter with camera mounted on cap
