I suck as a horse trader....

I don't think I've ever sold anything for a profit, or traded "up"....

But I saw Jerry Douglas last night and I don't care

Go see live music....

It never seems to work out. I think its best to lay out the value of your service, or product, in clear $ monetary value right up front before you start .
Seems every time I horse trade my services, my labor is worth $20 dollars an hour, and the other side wants $200.00 an hour .
Im pretty much done with horse trading. If I need your services, Ill just pay you .
I gave a concrete contractor 3 full days of my time. I pulled one motor from a dump truck, pulled the second motor, then installed the first motor into the dump truck.
3 full 10 hour days, + some .
He poured a sidewalk for me. Took him just shy of 3 days.
He tried to hit me with a giant bill afterwards , even though , we agreed time for time .

There are too many of these shady dudes who try to screw you around after the fact. I always get something in writing as opposed to a verbal agreement and this avoids the screwed over feeling you can get when a guy goes back on his word.

Try trading something smaller first like a mule or a donkey and build from there!

Something I learned a long time ago, never do a time for time deal... their time always seems to be worth more than yours even when the time for time seems to be even.

Roger the music.

I buy high and sell low or buy low and sell lower. Do you know how to become a millionaire in used cars? Start with two million.

Few have the knack.

I traded a horse to this shady place in Tijuana one time, I don’t want to know what they used him for.

For what ?

It's just not in my DNA...and it's not because I don't have the "knack"....'cause I can't recall ever even trying...

But the Jerry Douglas Band still has a smile on my face and pulled me out of the "funk" I was in...

Simply blown away I was...go see 'em...thank me later

Honestly, the key to being a good "horse trader" is research.

I just don't tick like that Cabman...some got "it", some don't...I don't. I do fine with investments (not horse trading imo), but I have never in my life sold an "object" or traded up for a profit....not that I can recall. Just hanging on to crap forever doesn't help either

The horse market seems like the wild west. Personally I stick to options and futures.
