Stop using it. Get a brace. (some work better than others) Let it heal.

My wife has used Kinesiology Tape for her elbow, golfing is her cause, and she swears by it.
Though not to relieve the pain as much as to help the injury while playing.

If it's real bad, a shot of cortisone will kill it. I did that once. I saw my grandma's grandma's grandma it hurt so bad when he pressed that plunger. A few minutes later, all good.
Will not likely do that again.

You're probably sleeping on that arm wrong. Change your sleep position and don't curl your arm under your body. In the meantime use ice on the joint and ibuprofen. Ice works wonders on swollen or painful joints

I used a compression sleeve for several weeks, did the job.

I have both tennis elbow, and golfers elbow.
Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) outside of elbow. Golfers elbow (medial epicondylitis) inside of elbow. I've never played Tennis, and I played Golf a few times..My injuries manifested from poor technique weight training.. The shot worked on the Tennis elbow, but not the Golfer Elbow (for me).. Actually getting the shot isn't so bad, it was the discomfort for two-three days after that the Dr told me would make me hate him. There are stretches you can try, strength training with light weights.. Etc..It sucks and I know the discomfort first hand.. I'm going for a third shot for the golfer elbow... if that doesn't work (probably wont) I'm told surgery is next.. There is also PRP treatment, Platelet Rich Plasma. which they prepare using your own blood.. my Dr mentioned it but didn't push it, wanting me to try more physical therapy before reaching...

Sleep with your arms straight and acquire some theraband flexbars and do the exercises. You'll find them on YouTube. These are the only two things that cured my elbows.

I'm just getting over it. I play golf every day and tennis elbow flared up badly last January (yes, tennis elbow, not golfers elbow). I've been dealing with it for over eight months. Went to an ortho early and he refused to do a cortisone injection. He said cortisone will make it feel better for a couple months, but is guaranteed to come back worse. The only real therapy is rest, rest, rest...accompanied with ice, strengthening exercises, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meds.
I bought a tennis elbow strap, the kind with the compression pad. I started stretching and the usual strengthening eexercises (Google it. There's some good ones) and took Celebrex. I wore the strap daily and just kept playing through it. After about six months I noticed it was feeling a little better. Last month I started playing without the strap. Now it's almost gone. Most of the guys I play golf with have had it. Six to eight months seems to be the typical timeframe. Only one guy required surgery. If you do the work, and avoid things that irritate it, you'll get through it too.

I went through this last fall. Physiotherapy took care of it in 6 visits over 3 weeks.
Exercise was lifting 2-3 lbs with your hand facing down and bending only at the elbow. Deep massage. Tens - you can buy your own for under $20 on wish.com. And heat with the tens.

I had what they called "tennis elbow" a hundred years ago...from constantly practicing my backhand (one handed tennis player).
Pain in my upper forearm, close to my elbow. As I recall, just resting it and no backhands for a month or so. It went away...never to return.

Counterforce strap. Redistributes force (like a capo) so there's less of it on the injured portion of extensor tendon.
Try lifting/carrying things with your palm facing upwards, not downwards. Also reduces force on the injured tendon. Stretching exercises. Arm out in front of you, elbow straight, palm facing down. Then use your other (good) hand to flex the wrist such that your fingers are pointing towards the ground. You should feel a stretch by your elbow. If that's too easy, then while doing the stretch, externally rotate your fingers "outwards" (hyperpronation of forearm). If that's not enough, consider PT/acupuncture/cortisone injection/PRP injection.

What he said...that's what the theraband helps you do....

I'm going on 4 months of tennis elbow from a golf injury. I knew something bad happened right away. Next time, I'm going to tell caddie to STFU and hit a 9 iron.
Just when I think I'm in the clear to use it normally, I'm back to stage one. I now wear a compression sleeve, and avoid any use of the elbow if I can. Anything more than a couple lbs. will cause pain. As others have mentioned, exercise, compression, ice, and rest is best. Then don't trust it when you think everything is fine.

yup - did the shot on the elbow, yup...hurts for a little bit but the pain goes. Had it done on my knee as well years ago - I know now that I can be interrogated and not still the secrets. That shot in the knee was 10X worse then the elbow. I don't think there is a pain worse (and I don't want to find out.).
