Ask him how old he is and how long before he plans to retire.

what could go wrong? ;)

and of course the tree question...

I would only add to this list experience in managing process for firing for both cause or convenience. how has the candidate managed these processes in the past? experience in coordinating with in house council as well as opposing council.

Are you able to completely disconnect yourself from the realities of doing business?

Do you feel confident in your ability to create checklists and if so can you reliably link those checklist items to arbitrary timelines?

Tell me about your experience with reading PowerPoint presentations to large groups.

Start there anyway :)

How about:

I waste a s**t ton of company time surfing the internet, insulting people on a politics and religion forum, and defending a crappy president.

How do you like that?

"Do you use buzzwords?"

"What do buzzwords mean to you?"

"What does the buzzword 'engaged' mean to you?"

"Have you ever been fired for something you did not agree with? Tell me about that."

"Are you ok with lying to employees either overtly or by omission?"

Such an interview is an important task- it's a no brainer. You've got to drill down to get the right information- you've got to get the best bang for your buck. You want to be sure the applicant has the bandwidth to move the goal post. At the end of the day, you wouldn't want them to throw you under the bus as the low hanging fruit. You also want them to hit the road running to get the ball rolling with the HR problems.

If this isn't enough, we can circle back around later, or you can just ping me.
