Paint shop recommendation San Diego?

Looking for someone to paint a decklid. I would prefer someplace no farther North than the Miramar area. OC and LA are not an option.

Thanks!

If the trip south is not an option, call the guys at Black Forest as they use a paint and body man (forget the name) that is great. He did my wife's '87 930 when it got hit just behind the right door and the job was great.

I kind of thought James would chime in about Los Panchos. Actually it's not a bad option. I took my wife's car there a year or year & a half ago for a small fix up job. Armando charged me $600 for what would have cost maybe $1,500 to $2K up here. I dropped the car off & walked back across the border in about twenty minutes. So you could tuck the deck lid under your arm & drop it off & pick it up when ready & walk back across.

John has probably been there more than I have! I only had three cars done, a Porsche 914-6, 1982 911SC aka the 101 Projects car (Yes, Wayne's model car!) and my Jeep Cherokee.

They do body work, paint and upholstery. I had the 911SC painted (US epoxy paint plus clear coat) and the leather seats repaired - $750. Jeep had a bunch of dings from over the years, they fixed, painted and new clear coat $500 and the 914-6 was stripped down, had movable seat bracket welded in, new paint (Mexican) and the entire vinyl interior replaced with black leather - $3K.

Mike Lesniak, before leaving Dan Diego, had a minor business taking parts over to Los Panchos for the people not willing to cross the border.

I'm pretty sure they have a US phone number. They do a lot of work for US people. And "No Monkey Business".

The last I heard was no US telephone number. A couple of things, take some cash for a down payment since you'll be a new customer. Also empty the car of tools AMMO or anything gun related. Take the title and registration and get Mexico insurance as it is mandatory. Make sure to have their phone number handy if you get stopped by Mexican customs so they can explain why you are bringing a "heap" to Mexico. Here are a before and after shot of their work, took 6 weeks, $2K.

Thanks, I know about Los Panchos but I didn't want to make multiple border crossings just for this decklid. I'll give Black Forest a call.
