Ad Blue, Diesel additive
The new to me Mercedes Diesel has a separate filler cap for this additive. https://www.walmart.com/ip/BLUEDEF-Diesel-Exhaust-Fluid-2-5-gal/16933407?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227010184782&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=67020913849&wl4=pla-150230954449&wl5=9028890&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=16933407&wl13=&veh=sem#about-item
Does this additive go into a separate tank or does it mix in with the Diesel fuel and just has a separate filler hole? How much do you use if it is like a pre mix? Thanks in advance.

Separate tank. DEF does not get injected into the motor it is injected into the exhaust.

It is a 50/50 water and urea mix. So do NOT add it to diesel fuel..

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is one of the key elements involved in the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) process. It is a nontoxic solution of 67.5% de-mineralized water and 32.5% automotive grade urea. DEF helps to convert NOx into nitrogen gas and water vapor. It is stable, non-flammable, odorless, and colorless.
Cold weather, DEF starts to freeze at 12°F. DEF spec is not impacted by freezing and subsequent defrosting. Hot Weather: Store below 86°F. Exposure to excessive heat for extended time will reduce shelf life (90°F storage reduces shelf life to 6 months)

Porsche claims their piss water is 50/50. And their tank heaters go bad routinely. Which will suck for those whose warranty will soon lapse.

Now in 993 land ...

Haha - yes, that would be DEF and it has a separate tank on your vehicle. You can fill up at truck stops or walmart has their tech brand pretty cheap too in 2.5 gallon containers with a nice filler hose included. AFAIK all the DEF is the same in this country and in Europe they call it Adblue.

and if you do it yourself, the warning of low DEF does not reset
