Clean 996 Turbo for Under $35k?
Talk about Porsche bang for the buck. Sport seats and 6 speed manual.
![]() I have ZERO association with Paul at Auto Kennel other then has a good reputation with the local PCA guys. This thing looks like a deal, with coolant pipes welded and $20K in recent service work. https://autokennel.com/2001-porsche-911-996-twin-turbo-coupe-2/

Damn that's a bargain. It's getting hard to find any decent 996TTs for under $40k.

No kidding, and super clean cosmetically. I could trade him my 9977TT for that 996TT and pick up a decent 914 2.0 with the difference. Hmmm?

Playing the devils advocate here.
It looks like someone bought a car that needed clutch and coolant work as well as a paint job. Tracked it for a while and is now trying to sell it. Painted rims. Back of seats scratched pretty good. Missing floor mats. Just saying .....

They are even cheaper in Canada. You can get a nice clean car for less than $35k.

Exactly, that's bottom of the market pricing for what looks to be a pretty damn decent car. If you want a mint one, prepare to spend $50-60k.

I drove one in Canada - thought about it, asking $40K. With the Loonie v. USD, might be an interesting approach.
I've driven 5 to date and while i love the idea, frankly I am still a bit hesitant. They just seem a bit too heavy.

My problem is that they are so fast you really only use 10% of the car on a daily basis.
But when you use 100%....wow. Some day....

This was in vogue with a lot of companies in the early 2000s. So much so that there's a company (Stickynomore) that specializes in refinishing these parts.

I have a 2003 - and I can tell you first hand - that set up properly these cars feel rock solid - and not heavy... and that's coming from a 1974 with a 3.6... These cars are awesome - only negative is the small gas tank and the "soft touch" interior paint

Also worthy of mention, you can pretty easily convert them into 2wd. Drop a little weight, set up the suspension correctly, add a tune, and you have a budget GT2.

Anyone who spends that on a 996 is seriously dumb. I had a chance to buy a beautiful 997tt manual in Silver/black w around 60k miles for $64k in the last year. It was not under priced.

That's what is perplexing about that market. 996TT prices seem to be moving upwards, I rarely see them under $40k even when they are crap. But the 997TT seems to still be depreciating. Why someone would spend 997TT money for a 996TT is beyond me. At $40k a 996TT makes sense. At $60k I'd be looking 997TT or a 996 GT3 all day long.

Dennis, let me know next time you see something like that. I'm still looking for an AWD replacement car for my DD as I pass mine to my son.

I bought a creampuff 20k original mile well optioned 996 for $32k. I still managed to spend about $2-3k on little stuff I found wrong with it. Plus another $1500 getting all the soft touch plastic interior pieces stripped and painted as Matt mentioned above. My point is that even a "perfect" car has issues that can nickel and dime you.

^this is a real issue IMO. Loved my 997tt, but it was kinda stupid. Don't get me wrong, stupid can be fun, but you only get to use the stupid feature for seconds. Using it for longer periods has a high likelihood of landing you in jail.
