free bump! I am thinking of building a locost

I understand that the aerodynamics suck after 120 and the front fenders in the posted pics should REALLY help on the lift that the front ends are rumored to have.

I was on Streets of Willow Springs running Counter Clockwise in my vintage mustang on decent street tires, Full road race suspension and on the line when a 100 hp Lotus 7 and tires half as wide as mine came from behind, off line inside of me and powered away as I was feathering the throttle sawing away at the steering wheel and trying to power down in four wheel drift this little L7 with less than 1/3rd of my horse power on skinny ass tires ran away from me YES I want one! I'm thinking Rotary with a S2000 6 spd

These make good autocross cars also. The local SCCA group has several members with Super 7s that always post good times. I think one with a rotary engine would be a hoot and a half! Be sure to use a removeable steering wheel if you really want to sit in it and/or drive it! Keep in mind this is purely an open car. There is a top made for them but I have never seen anyone get into a S7 with the top up! I vote yes!

A friend has a Birkin which is a South African version of the Caterham licensed by Lotus back in the day. They seem to be more geared towards build it yourself kits than Caterham is these days. Check them out too.

I've wanted a 7 of some sort for years. The only other thing that would come close for me would be a good 550 clone. One day I'll have one of them!

They are very fast. There is a turbo Miata version of that running in our SCCA autocross, routinely has TTD. How about something like this? S2000 drivetrain. I think it already got sold though.

I think CSR stands for Caterham Super Racey

Way back in 2008 I saw one in traffic, but he had the good sense to wear a helmet.

That's the rub...they would make for a great auto-x toy. But on a freeway today? Absolutely scary...

One of these is on my radar as a "fun weekend car" that would keep me from throwing my leg over a motorcycle.

Funny, I had the exact same thought. One of these, an Ariel Atom, or a Morgan 3-wheeler.

To the best of my knowledge CSR's came in two flavors but only the 260 came to the US. They are powered by a dry-sumped, all aluminum, cosworth-modified duratec 2.3L with the double A-arm IRS and inboard front suspension. IMO, street legal cars within my grasp don't get much more visceral.
