He's like the new Steve Jobs. Despite what his fanclub seems to think, Steve Jobs did not really invent the tablet, the smartphone or the desktop home computer & mouse. He just improved the work of others, and he didn't even do it himself.. he had people do it for him and then he hyped and marketed it better then the rest. Musk did not invent the electric car. he did not invent the concept of shooting things up in space. He made his money, as a banker with Paypal(which he did not invent, he merged his company with the company that had Paypal) and grew it big with great marketing. cashed 165 million selling it off to Ebay. And from there he started off SpaceX And a bit later cofounded Tesla Neither companies actually make any money, at all. They both operate at a loss, off investor funding. The main income is investors, and that requires great marketing.. again.. So like Steve Jobs, his main business = Marketing. And while this launch & return in 10 minutes is bloody impressive to watch. It's just better computer guidance & thrusters.. Something they did not yet have 20 years ago.. But it is not the revolution of space travel, it just makes it slightly more economical then One time use boosters and/or parachute recovery. His Tesla car, quite frankly if automotive tech means we all have to drive ugly cars like that, well i'm not terribly enthousiastic about that really. Sure you can launch em fast, but they are useless for any decent road trip. They have no stamina. Da Vinci, he was thinking of things nobody had thought off. flight helicopters robots scuba parachute tank gatling gun self propelled vehicles He did not take other peoples ideas and evolve them , he had original ideas. Many of the things we now take for granted : he thought of them well ahead of it's time

SPOCK: Your collection of Leonardo da Vinci masterpieces, Mister Flint, they appear to have been recently painted on contemporary canvas with contemporary materials. And on your piano, a waltz by Johannes Brahms, an unknown work in manuscript, written in modern ink. Yet absolutely authentic, as are your paintings.
FLINT: I am Brahms. SPOCK: And da Vinci? FLINT: Yes. SPOCK: How many other names shall we call you? FLINT: Solomon, Alexander, Lazarus, Methuselah, Merlin, Abramson. A hundred other names you do not know.
