A good read, and a good story.

Have only time for reading part way through right now but good stuff. I'm embarrassed to admit that I did not appreciate Cumberford's background before reading this. Thank you for posting it!

Ha, well that does sort of prove the humor aspect in the comments section.

Comments section heated up and got closed.

Lots of interesting perspectives there.

I'm not sure that I would have been very happy in that studio environment.

Very interesting article, Paul. Thanks.

I knew the name Harley Earl but nothing in detail about the man. Interesting character.

As for Cumberford, I had not heard of him. Equally interesting: http://www.automobilemag.com/author/robert-cumberford/

my dad worked in that environment knew all those people
[zora lived upstairs in our big lake front house]
the fief protection by the brass-hats was intense
so after the hyd drive car he invented was shelved after 3 years work at ford
and the pre-T-bird car concept he built was stolen by ford
he move to fla full time and built boats

Very fascinating article I really do enjoy the history of cars and why some were chosen for production and others were passed over.

I never knew the distant relation of the 928 and the Mustang.

It was more of a relationship of the Corvette to the Porsche 928, at least for the transaxle aspect. It was reversed timeline wise from what you might expect.

I see what you are saying and agree with that. I meant that someone that had a hand in the original ideas that developed into the Mustang had later designed the 928.

Guys, I've known Stan for decades. He appointed me the Cyclops minister of West Coast affairs, figuring it was the perfect job for me because Cyclops has no West Coast affairs.

Anyway, when he sent the link to this, I thought some here would find it interesting.

Funny thing I also find interesting is that so far, zero response from those on the Bullitt Mustang board. Maybe a brand loyalty thing?
