Electronic Air Cleaner Problem
I love electronic air cleaners. When I installed one in a previous house, we basically never had to dust.
My newest house has one, but it clicks constantly. Rhythmic clicks. Perhaps two or three per second, according to my recollection. I have run the two brick-shaped aluminum filter thingies through the dishwasher, which did not fix the clicking. Anybody got advice/suggestions for me?

I hate electronic air cleaners...
The clicking is arcing and it will produce ozone. Not the good kind. I can usually tell walking into a home if the furnace is equipped with an electronic air cleaner. My advice is to find an air filter manufacturer local to you and have custom 40% pleated filters made for the housing. Buy them in bulk and you will be surprised as to how cheap they are. Utilize the metal mesh pre-filer to keep the big chunks out. You can also check the contact tabs to make sure that they are getting good contact to the cells or collection plates.
