[QUOTE=Rich76_911s;9744204]A guy in Pittsburg who likes to slash and run. Sounds like Sidney Crosby is a Porsche fan, and a snobby one at that!

You're way calmer about the whole thing than I'd have been. Good on you for that. Hopefully, Sidney makes things right.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

I wish I had found a peru red 930. I love that color, and it looks awesome on a 930. You want to swap for a marine blue one?

Ha, ha , that is funny, I agree, it is an awesome color on any 911. Marina Blue is pretty sweet as well ! Here is a photo the night before I was slashed and dashed .

When I made this post, I was still trying to process the whole incident. At that time, I had myself all worked up , and convinced that he did it on purpose .
I am over it now, however, I will certainly say something to him if I see him again . I don't want his money . A few months back, I was cleaning up my garage, and the wind blew over a sheet of plywood , and it made a ding. sheet happens. car has a few small other dings. I probably should get a dent repair guy to have his way with it. It is mostly original paint, with a few touch ups here an there, I have decided not to restore it for now, just to drive it .
I'm not a drama queen, I am not sitting home stewing on this, I was pissed for a few hours but the next day, I was over it .
I am curious to see how he reacts when I say something. or if he shows up at all.
As always, thanks for the feedback.

well that's not a Targa so no p-car snobbery should've been present:)

I don't believe you experienced any Donkian Snobbery. the types he loathes would never have risked damaging their own car to disparage yours AND would almost certainly recognize an early Turbo, particularly one in such a stunning color, as being quite special.... perhaps even more so than their own vehicle and would've spent time explaining to you why your car is worth less than theirs and how they passed on several '76 Turbo Carreras themselves.

No, I think you just ran across a jackass.

berettafan 09-20-2017 11:35 AM

oh and they would also make sure you knew that they know a guy with an even BETTER '76 Turbo.

Rich76_911s 09-20-2017 04:20 PM

Looks beautiful. My dads '76 non-turbo was Peru red so I've always loved the color.

Mine has lots of love marks too.

I am glad you are "over it" I am glad you realize it was most likely not an intentional slight to you and your car for some how being less than, but just a stupid mistake and a panicky, cowardly run by a now regretful individual for his actions.
It is just stuff and what happens in life using stuff. Any thing else is snobbery.

Let me know who it is so I don't park beside him next weekend

pc100porsche 04-07-2018 12:42 PM

What happened ... did you meet up with this guy again ?

That being said, typical 911 owner behavior from my experience. Yours wasn't nicer than his, so you must not care about an extra ding or five.

Since we live in the same area, bring your 944 to Wilsonville on Sat. morning for C&C, and you can park it next to my 911 all day long. Anybody gives you any kaka about it, I'll just cross my arms and give them the "dad frown". It's weird how effective that can be, BTW.

Or you can park next to my GTV6. :)

If that happened to my ride, both of us would be in the ER. To get my foot out of his ass.....

fastfredracing 04-07-2018 04:25 PM

I'm looking forward to the upcoming c&c events, Hoping to run into the guy again. I figured I will not make a big deal out of it, but def have to mention it .

We used to have a Porsche event here up the coast a bit at the fairgrounds. I drove my 944 up there, a 1984 with the 924 (cracked) dash and 10 foot paint job. I brought my camera kit and booked a hotel room for the weekend so I could get up early and get pictures of the cars before the crowds showed up. Morning of event I got up and then headed to the fairground, there were just a few cars in the parking lot and I thought "cool easy parking"... as I rolled up the parking guys kept waving me forward... and forward... and into the fairground... and had me park on the grass with the other cars in the show... I walked away trying to act cool like I wasn't shocked at what just happened.

Fred, I missed this when you originally posted it, but reading your OP just now, this stood out:

I park next to the only other air cooled car there. I actually parked in the spot in front of him.

I'm not sure how to park next to another car and in front of it, which to me implies you parked nose to nose or backed into the spot and were tail to nose.

Internet: [996|944|Boxster|Cayman] is stupid water pumper quasi-Porsche!! They are so lame. My air cooled car is the pure thing. The only true raw driving experience. The annual 6 month hibernation is over. Looking to put on another 200 miles this year. I'll be sure to change the oil filter twice! Excuse me, I have a C&C to attend so I can get the best parking spot! Anyone got the Windex?

Track: [996|944|Boxster|Cayman] is represented by a ratio of 5:1 vs. air cooled garage ornaments. Many are gutted scarred pitted stripped down track machines that are bare bones kidney rattling race cars. They are sometimes the fastest cars on the track. You can try to explain to them what a real Porsche, but they are busy doing laps, and would not be able to hear you anyway.

Well one definition of a real Porsche would be the one at Le Mans Classic.

They allow everything , except Macans Cayennes or Panameras for the clubs selected to display cars on the inner court yard at Le Mans classic.

And I think that's a fair definition.
