Hazy plastic headlight lenses. gah.

i have become damn near "expert level 10" with polishing a lens. i have trouble with how fast they simply rehaze. i have tried a handfull of different sealants..nope. they will haze again.

now? i just search for replacements. i got a pair; super clean. seller said none of the tabs were broken. CHEAP!! i jumped on them. well, one tab was broken. not sure i could enlist a ziptie for the repair. any ideas? come hell or highwater, i am getting them onto my truck. mine have not only hazed..they seem to have a crack going across the right lens.

some guys on the TACOMA forums dont even attach that last anchor. it is under the sheet metal at the fender. it is a pain to get to..i suspect whoever just YANKED the lens out and that's why it is broken.

Vash, install clear bra film over them and you'll have no problems with future hazing.

No need for the thick 30-40Mil stuff. Just get a local installer to cut the pattern on 9Mil film. You can DIY.

The only other way to stop them from hazing up after polishing is to spray with true catalyzed automotive clear coat.

A buddy of mine manages a local body shop, I normally pay him to polish them for me because it always looks better. He will clearcoat them using auto clearcoat after polishing, it helps bring back the shine and the UV inhibitors in the clearcoat help protect the plastic.

I miss the olden days of glass lenses.

Yep. If you clear coat them yourself, you need to find a UV resistant product.

I wipe them down with deep woods off every so often. Takes 30 seconds.

You can bake the good buckets, pull the hazy lenses off and put good lenses on if the new buckets don't stay put properly.

https://www.**********/headlights.html Strange it won't show the web page. Look for carid . com

Where I go shopping for head & tail lights.

Local aftermarket parts supplier was 3X what these guys charge for my truck for stock parts.

Funny, I looked at CarID but for the money got a set of proper retrofit projectors instead of the ones they carry. Good prices on OEM stuff though.
