Leaf Blowers, Battery Powered Recommendations?
I want a leaf blower that doesn't require a power cord. My current AC Toro works very well but the hassle of the AC cord is getting annoying. I went to the Stihl dealer looking for gas models and the guy (very helpful) said the new battery models do a good job and don't have the issues with storing/etc. gasoline. I tried some Stihl battery models in the store. This got me to thinking to look at battery models and there are now a lot of them out there (Stihl, Husky, Worx, Eco, B&D, Ryobi, etc., etc.) . I have one application (getting leaves off of my shake roof) where very high mph flow is needed (leaves caught between shakes). The Toro works OK for this. Any recommendations? Maybe the best thing is to rent a gas model for my roof once per year and get a battery model of moderate capability for the rest of what I need.

Good to ask here. When I'm looking for info, advice, suggestions, etc., I often will look for the item on Amazon and then read the reviews.
BTW, the Worx products, shown on TV, have battery life/storage issues...as per Amazon reviews. Good luck. . Edit: I had a Toro electric years ago...190 mph output. Amazing.

I don't have a leaf blower, but I have had good luck with the Ryobi "One" products. 18v battery that works with all kinds of products, I have the weed whacker and hedge trimmer...

For high flow I would buy a Stihl or a Shindawa backpack blower. Not eh best for working on a roof, but very good for moving air.
I have both of the above, and I've had zero fuel issues with 2 strokes.

I have a couple of powerful backback blowers (Stihl and Echo - 2 stroke) that will move some air....but you don't always need that. Went looking for a hand held battery unit for my dad about a monrh ago, so my mom could easily use it too, blowing out garage, clearing sidewalk, driveway, etc. Settled on an Echo ($199 from HD) with a 58v battery that's a pretty good blower imo. Like theirs so much I went back later and got me one

Get this, it's fine. On sale too, like Craftsman stuff always is.
It's not just a leaf blower it's a garage floor blower... I bought this, plus the battery weed-whacker because of the interchangeability of batteries. One is being charged while I'm using the other... A spare battery for these things is like $50 so having two tools is better. Sears.com

I've been very impressed with everything from Worx.

I have two of them.
I have a Worx and a Ryobi This is the Worx I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EU6H7N8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is the Ryobi: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BMBCOYQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The Ryobi was purchased when I changed my weed wacker from a gas one to electric. Out of the 2, I prefer the Ryobi, it has much stronger wind and lasts longer battery wise. The Worx is good too and I was happy with it until I got the Ryobi . If price is a factor, get the Worx as it will have everything you need, the Ryobi will require a battery and charge still and will cost you more money.

As an aside....I'm sorry I never finished my response to you on the landscape question. I was in the middle of transitioning to a new PC and my emails got left behind. I just went back and got that and will get back to you soon, if it's not too late. BTW...I have 2 backpack blowers and never use them. I love the versatility of a hand held blower. Backpack blowers are nice on certain larger applications, for sure. The cordless Ryobi is a good machine. Get one at Home Depot and you'll have 3 months to return it if you are not happy.....

I just bought a Black and Decker blower/vacuum from HD that is 40 volts. $80 or so. Three year warranty it's a little weak and the battery is good for about 20 minutes. Meets my needs for my new to me townhouse with artificial turf on the back patio.
If you don't need/want the vacuum feature go with one of the others.

I have a DeWalt that I love. It does the trick and its small and light. It isn't hurricane strong but for most jobs around the yard, its great. Anything bigger that requires more power, I will jsut wait for the gardener.

We bought a larger (.75 acre) property in San Diego that was overgrown. Hands down the best purchase we made was an Ego cordless blower
Ego LI blower We use it daily and it continues to kick butt. Charges in 15 minutes and will run in turbo (really powerful wind) for a long time. I have zero experience with the competitors, but I can vouch for this unit. If ours dies tomorrow I'm heading to the store to get another. No need to shop for alternatives, I will pick this off the shelf and not even look at the price. We are that happy with it. Did I say we use it daily? More like 2x a day, we are demented with keeping our property clean. That good. ![]() Last edited by JavaBrewer; 09-23-2017 at 05:37 PM.. |

I've looked at the specs on a few of the blowers posted here compared to my Echo...
Still think I made a great choice. Go to HD, drop $199, take it home and try it...you won't be returning it ![]() I NEVER thought I would own a battery operated yard tool either...until I used the one I bought for my parents... |

I have found that electric leaf blowers pale in comparison to the gas powered ones. I've had both, currently I have an electric, can't stand it. What would take me all day with it can be done in an hour with a gas powered blower. Granted, I have a lotta leaves to move...
I can't imagine a battery powered blower working as well as one with the cord let alone better. You'll spend more money on a gas powered blower, but if you really need power, and I think that's the only way to get it. |

I've been cutting the cord with all my yard tools with the E GO tools.
