Narcos Season 3 - anyone?
After they finally killed Pablo Escobar in season 2 we wondered if season 3 would be a letdown? No way, maybe even better than seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 is about the rise and taking down of the Cali Cartel by the DEA and Columbian National Police. Per those actually involved it is very close to what actually happened, a little poetic license in places (often because some those involved are still alive)..
AND as a footnote, while scouting for locations for Season 4 in Mexico, the location scout's bullet riddled body and car were found a couple of days ago in one of the most dangerous places in Mexico.. Season 4 is the rise of the Mexican Cartels. They are considering moving back to Columbia rather than try to shoot it in Mexico.

I like it but I wish they would just let the Spanish speaking characters speak English. It can be annoying trying to keep up with all the subtitles.

Off sick and binge watching season 2 right now. It's a great series and I was worried about season 3 knowing that escobar (I refuse to honor him by capitalizing his name) would be dead by the end of S2. This is the first I've heard about a location scout being murdered. That sickens me and I'm not sure how I feel about continuing to watch now.

That was a decent show, it showed both the perspective of the DEA and Pablo. If you ask me Netflix ripped off another Pablo series (which is must better IMO) and made Narcos to target it towards an American audience.
Once you've finished Narcos check out Pablo Escobar: El Patrón del Mal. The production value isn't as good as Narcos but that show is about the Columbian view point and not the US. It shows how Pablo grew up and started his drug cartel. Its only 1 season long but there are 74 episodes so in HBO math that is 7 seasons of material. The entire show is in spanish with English subtitles but its pretty good. After a few episodes you're either hooked or your turn it off. When you think about it, that guy and his murderous family were crazier than all American serial killers combined. They blew up a jet, murdered around a 1,000 cops, were also terrorists on top of narcos. They blew up buildings, murdered politicos, ran child prostitution rings and on and on. I can't stop watching because I'm at the point in the series, early on where Pablo went from a pussy to a murderous hefeh, to becoming a demon from hell. I wonder what he'll do next? The reviews on netflix by columbians that live in Medellín say this is great crime history and 95% accurate. From what I've read in reviews the only thing missing in that crime doc is his relationship he had with Castro and they left out the motorcycle murder teams that went after cops left and right in Medellín. In a few months when I'm done my spanish will be a hell of alot better. https://www.netflix.com/title/80035684 |

The other series I watched this Andrés Parra as Pablo Escobar nails it. Do a google image search of Andrés Parra. He transformed right into a near exact copy of that thug and his acting as Pablo is quite good. |

The country is called "Colombia".
"Columbia" is, variously, the name of: a US space shuttle, the capital of the US state of South Carolina, a variety of Cuban rumba, etc. Sorrynotsorry, that's a pet peeve of mine ![]() The actor that played Escobar is indeed Brazilian. I am really only familiar with costeño accents, but no, the actor's accent is not exactly a paisa one. I've only watched a bit of the show, but what I've watched was good. OK, back to my pedantic's corner now!

So if you're having withdrawals after NARCOS season 3 has ended, and it has finally settled in that BLOODLINE, RECTIFY and HELL ON WHEELS aren't coming back, I must highly recommend OZARK.
Season 1 was spectacular, from start to finish. Jason Bateman is quite the director--and he's very good in this also--as is everyone else...Laura Linney.....Esai Morales... Watch it tonight!

If you have Amazon Prime, give "Fortitude" a shot. We really enjoyed and it is really different. A psycho-thriller set on an Island above the Artic Circle.
