Rules changes in NHL this coming season.

https://www.nhl.com/video/2017-18-nhl-rule-changes/t-277350912/c-53004603

Among other things, no time-out allowed after icing the puck, losing a coach's challenge for off side call is now a 2 minute minor penalty instead of losing your time out. Slashing and position during faceoffs are being enforced more strictly.

2 minute minor for a lost challenge is ridiculous. No TO after an icing is OK by me.

Losing a timeout in hockey isn't a big deal. Two minutes will maybe cut down on all the crap line challenges and speed the game back up. Last season, that was painful. Lots of channel surfing going on and viewers not coming back to the game.
I am kind of ok with that.

The no TO after icing is going to change the game a lot. It will make icing a much more severe penalty especially at the end of a 1 goal game when the team that is behind has and empty net. Now not only can't you change players but you don't get any rest while fighting off a 6 on 5 or 6 on 4.

The off side challenge has been a joke. Very few are blatant enough. In most cases, if it was that obvious, the call would have been done correctly to begin with. I have seen some bad calls that the refs didn't fix (even the TV commentators are amazed) but now you get penalized for showing up the ref.

I thought that the icing team currently isn't allowed a line change...I need to check that.

Correct. I didn't make clear that they are still not allowed a line change but now, they can't burn their time out to get a rest either.
