Quick bolt question:
 

I want to extend the bolts exiting the rear of my camper. They are fiberglassed in and threaded on the end to receive the lug nuts for the spare.

Any simple suggestions not involving welders, structural changes to the camper, explosives or nukular material?

But will the spare's lug nut holes fit over the coupling nut?

I thought of that dilemma, too.

The goal is to extend the bolts to add some kind of carriage system on which to attach a lightweight portable grill for transport. I'm thinking I could mount the spare, then attach the coupling nuts, then attach the extension bolts, then the grill somehow.

I think I can run some ratchet straps between Serenity (the camper) and the fuel cell (the spare) and around the outside of the ion propulsion engine (the obsolete George Foremen grill) which will enable me to support the weight of the IPE on the hitch platform somehow.

After I wire up some extremely low output LED'S via the rear light circuit on Serenity into the inside of the IPE I will be able to go into hyperdrive with a twist of the wrist in the bridge.

Extend them long bolts through fiberglass all you want to man.
Extend them 30 feet iffn you want.
Aw shucks.
Extend them a hundid fify feet.

But if you don't want them to unexpectedly break and possibly cause injury out in the middle of nowhere:
Tie the load to to the frame and to the big heavy steel.

Strap grill to eyes....

Even though those particular eye nuts only hold 3600# (green ink implied), it's a great solution if I use 3; one on each bolt.

I am concerned that the extra weight of the grill might be a negative because I'm not really sure how those bolts are supported inside the shell of the vehicle. I think I read that there's a plywood backing plate fiberglassed in there.

That is awesome and totally doable. Based on your concept, I'll plan do to something similar to my 1947 Dodge truck, assuming IPE Hyperdrive works on 6 volt positive ground. See you in the 4th dimension. SmileWavy

The IPE is totally unrecognizable as a portable gas grill and vice versa.

It's so odd-looking I just know somebody's gonna ask what it is. It was a gift because nobody could figure out twice in a row how to deploy the thing, including me. It worked like a charm last week on a pound of bacon and filled the woods with that wonderful, magical aroma. So much so that it attracted a really interesting guy bicycling his way back home to Alaska (from Maine) to my camp.
