I have become... comfortably numb...

While cutting all that wood last week, I smashed my ring finger.

BAD.

It bled for 2 days. I used all my medical skills to fix it. Today's pic looks a LOT better than last week. Only by my quick thinking, nerves of steel, and ironclad judgement, am I here to talk about this today.

I think the distal phalange/metacarpal got smashed, but I'm too lazy to xray it, and there's not much to do about it anyway.
Bleeding stopped . I think the nail will hold on (I thought it was a goner).
The cuticle was torn off. Or at least 1/2 of it down into deep skin/fascia.

Lateral part of finger now numb (or maybe it's medial in anatomical position).
It's no fun.
Can't think of no pun.
Please don't remake Top Gun.

I.....I..... I..... have become.... comfortably numb......

I cut the nerves running up one side of my finger when I was in my late teen. Somehow over the years, the nerves on the other side of the finger ramped up and gradually gave me full feeling again.

Cliff notes; That will buff out. I suggest you soak in in cider.

I may have spelled that last bit wrong.

I need some information, first. Just the basic facts: can you show me where it hurts?

That should buff right out, maybe some high build primer to fill it in a little.

Well, this thread sent me down a Pink Floyd rabbit hole this morning.
Enjoyable trip...

When I did this about 1 hour ago to attempt to non-surgically reduce it.

Yes.

Hey... Where's your Pink Floyd reference?

p.s. I doubt this will work. It has been a week, but I will give it a try. It is well perfused even with clothespin on.
