Is that a tug behind the ship?

I would love to see this in real time. So much at work here, angle of approach, ice, etc.

Ship is riding high: On load?

No, not tug, lighthouse. Half load. Got into more ice than expected, and now has to wait for icebreaker. Can't go astern, as he gets closer to shore when in reverse.

Still in fairly deep water, but not happy about this at all.

That has to be rather expensive to send an icebreaker just to drag him around. I thought my last wrecker call was pricey. I can't imagine the cost to get an icebreaker in there.

Well, clearly, I need to rework my post to Daepp regarding optics for his seafaring daughter. Wow.

Very cool pictures.

Yea, nudity should not be a big issue with all that ice!

My car immigrated to New Zealand from London on the Cape Natal. Looks just like it.

What a beauty. As the big freighters go, it seems bigger than most.
It surely has a crew and good captain well seasoned.

May they sail safely and return quickly to their families and loved ones.
