Woman sues Krispy Kreme...

Seems as if their apple fritters were not as healthy as they advertised...who would've thunk it ...

KC911, where did you read about this?

From last year:

16th November 2016
SWEET AND SOUR Customer sues Krispy Kreme for £4million for false advertising because its ‘fruity’ doughnuts ‘don’t contain fruit’

He claims*the North Carolina-based chain is misleading the customers by allegedly advertising nonexistant “premium ingredients”, Top Class Actions reports.

In the complaint, Saidian claims that the doughnut maker conducts “false and misleading business practices” because its Chocolate Iced Raspberry Filled, Glazed Raspberry Filled, Maple Bar, and Glazed Blueberry Cake doughnuts don’t actually contain real raspberries, maple or blueberries.

Instead, the complaint alleges, the doughnuts are made with “nutritionally inferior ingredients".

Kreme faces suit over sugar, calories listed for apple fritter

Krispy Kreme faces suit over sugar, calories listed for apple fritter | Local Business | greensboro.com
Quote:
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. is facing another attempt at a class-action lawsuit in California targeting its delicacies, this time being accused of having misleading nutritional labels.

The complaint was filed Thursday in the Central District of California with a request for a jury trial...........................

Salem said she specifically chose an apple fritter because the nutritional chart listed it as having 4 grams of sugar and 210 calories. The same chart listed an original glazed doughnut with 10 grams of sugar and 190 calories. Most regular-sized specialty doughnuts ranged from seven to 34 grams of sugar, and from 190 to 400 calories.

Krispy Kreme’s website lists 28 grams of sugar and 390 calories for the apple fritter, with a caloric breakdown of 47 percent fat, 49 percent carbs and 4 percent protein..............

Salem said she would not have chosen the apple fritter if not for the sugar and caloric nutritional listing.

Salem said in August she was told by a manager at a Krispy Kreme shop that the sugar and caloric totals for the apple fritter were incorrect. She said she found out on Krispy Kreme’s website that the apple fritter had 26 grams of sugar and 350 calories.

“Plaintiff was shocked and disturbed at hearing this information,” according to the lawsuit.
I do see the differences between what she was provided with, told by the manager and what's listed on the website.

What I do not see is a lab's independent testing.

Let the courts decide.

The last time I tried to eat donuts I was sick all afternoon, my body rejected it. I'm just not used to all that sugar anymore.

I typically bake and cook from scratch what I eat. You never know what's in it anymore.

they need to be beyotch slapped. It's a fricken donut. It's NOT healthfood.

I'd love to see it get thrown out and the folks doing the suing have to pay court costs.

Local news, probably from the local reporter who shares my last name.... we're almost certainly related. All the newscasters were hee-hawing....KK was started in Winston-Salem, and is a local land mark. I've eaten my share over the years, but only a fool would eat one of their products and go...

When you could buy a dozen KKs for a buck or so, I've probably eaten a box at one time...now that I'm health conscience I only eat half a box . But damn....they are good....haven't had one in years...

When I had corporate gigs in W-S....if a vendor showed up with less than 4-5 boxes of 'em....well, he wasn't from around here .

Wait, so an apple fritter a day is not as effective as an apple a day to keep doctors at bay?

Would have never guessed.

In our overburdened court system, something as silly as this needs to be tossed out before getting through the front door.

Geez, lady- Its a DOUGHNUT!

4 grams of sugar verses 28 grams, that's seven times the sugar. Yet just twice the calories?

Either way, people have the right to know what they are eating, their lives depend on it in some cases.

You may have the right to lie, but when it hurts people or infringes on others rights then it becomes more than a lie.

Was it willful lies or just some bad typos?

I got into this a few weeks ago when my wife brought home a glass jug of orange juice that claimed to be "not from concentrate", that it was from fresh oranges "orange juice".

It looked like it was from concentrate, it smelled like it was from concentrate, and it tasted as if it were from concentrate.

She trusts the false labeling over her own senses, or at least mine.

That angers me, not her so much because she cannot even tell the difference between pork and chicken sometimes. The false labeling angers me.

Same with some almond crackers she brought home, all full of salt but the lable claims differently.

Maybe if more of these fraudsters were brought to court we could have confidence in our purchasing decisions.

Yep, in the judicial system that we should have the judge should look at the attorney that filed the case and tell him that the attorney he is in contempt of court for wasting the courts time, and fine him a large sum. Then look at the "lady" and tell her she has to pay 150% of court costs to the other side.

They should just shut down the company and say they don't want to deal with the legal issues. Point out that people suck, and if they are going to sue over stupid **** like this, we are going to get rid of the jobs.

That's just a terrible idea....where will the cops hang out ? I don't know if KK still does it, but there used to be a red neon hot-donut light in the old daze....if you could pass that by you were a communist . Back when they just sold one thing...plain ol' glazed donuts. Now that I think about it....apple fritters....WTF???
