Not much crumple in front of the driver.
A lot of randomly scattered bars added aft.
Major physics-transition seems vague.

Other than that...a notewothy project.

Nothing random in any of those tubes! Every one has a purpose. Look at the original very closely and Then check out mine. Keep in mind I had to work around the engines and C6 Corvette suspension.

I have an electrician installing a Megasquirt MS3 Pro EVO and he said the engines will be running in the next couple of weeks.

^^
Interesting car, and it looks like it will be a hoot to drive, but I wonder how Porsche feels about their name being on it.

An ambitious and awesome project - Thank you for sharing! I PRAY the builder gets nothing but respect and helpful suggestions, that we keep things positive and that we don't repay his generosity in documenting the build with ugly-ass cheap shots.

Someone on Pelican once offered hi-res drawings of the 917's chassis - which I promptly printed and hung in my garage! And those drawings made it abundantly clear how exposed the drivers feet and lower legs were to any front-end collision, as they are entirely in front of the front axles! Amazing when you stop to think of it!

Isn't that one of the main differences between the 956 and 962 ? Due to rules changes in the mid 1980's the drivers feet had to be behind the center line of the front wheels and the feet were in front on the center line of the 956 thus the 962 was developed.

The 956 was designed to compete in group C in Europe and IMSA GTP in the US, starting in 1982. IMSA had rules that were different from group C and they wouldn't let the 956 run over here. Porsche introduced the 962 in 1984 in the US. The biggest change was essentially moving the front suspension forward, to get the drivers feet behind the centerline of the axle. They also mandated a steel roll cage around the cockpit, which was the other big change. Porsche had used aluminum for roll cages for a long time, if you can believe that.
