Help Mod My Fridge
 

I have a True T23 refrigerator, which is a standard commercial fridge. My wife complains that it is too deep and stuff gets lost in the back. I have an idea to install pullout shelves. Please critique and maybe give suggestions?

The idea is:
- Attach full extension industrial drawer slides to the inside walls. It would be ideal to use the existing shelf bracket supports, if there were a way to securely hold the slides.
- Make shelves from perforated aluminum, with 6" upturned lips at front, sides and rear.
- Fasten shelves to slides.
- Voila a commercial refrigerator with pullout shelves. Now everything is easy to reach. Wife no longer hates refrigerator. Wife no longer hates me for getting refrigerator. Marriage is repaired.

Some things ain't worth repairing.

Can't help you with your project specifically but will just say that I've learned to not keep so much in my fridge.....easier to access stuff when it's not jammed full.

Sounds reasonable, though a 6” lip will hide stuff. I’d go with a much smaller lip, maybe 1-2 in. You could mock it up with cardboard and see if the boss approves before going to the trouble.

As long as you're sure where the condenser is I'd say go ahead with the full extension pullouts.
Either that or turn that sucker into a "keezer" and go get a new freezer. Never can have too much beer storage.

Accuride side mount slides should mount directly to the shelf standards. What are you doing with a commercial ref? Loud? Yo wife should get rid of yo azz for this.

OMG, this is exactly what I need!

Okay, here's a source for perforated aluminum in various thicknesses. Shelf will have a taller lip at the back and sides, maybe a 2" lip on the front. What thickness won't bow too much?

Cheap Harbor Freight brake good enough?. I don't know anyone with a brake.

Got any sheet metal places nearby? Check places that form duct work for HVAC- might be pretty cheap and nicely done to boot.

I put plastic milk jugs full of water across the backs of my shelves to keep from shoving stuff back there. And if I really need the depth for something big can just move them around or set them out.

Do the same with the freezer, only shift them to the fridge to make room if needed. Has been handy for having jugs of Ice to put in the cooler.

This requires an overly elaborate and complex beer dispensing system not unlike the clip on a machine gun to supply drinks stored behind the main shelves to eat up the deep unneeded refrigerator depth.

Other than getting too fancy schmansy with the fridge; how about just getting some trays and saying to the wife "there you go Love, there's the cheese, and there's the sauces. Next tray down is the ..." Too easy.

This is where the logic goes all wrong, IMO.
The terminology "no longer" and "satisfied" does not exist in their vocabulary.

(oh, if you have white plastidip spray paint, some round stock with welding skills, you can go to town on those racks however you see fit.)
