Miele or Bosch
My 24 year old Bosch has finally conked out. Best appliance we bought.$900 24 years ago. We got the lowdown on the Miele that's made in Germany and the Bosch 800 that's made in North Carolina. The Miele is $1500...the Bosch is $800. Anyone out there with one of these appliances?

Miele without thinking about it. Is it 700 bucks better? No, but they do last a long time, so do the Bosch units. I think two Bosch will outlast a Miele?

+1... What do you do if something happens to the Miele? Seems like I read it was a *****, don't need that.

Mieles are great units, but you must use their installer and tech to perform repairs. I have installed them myself for my clients but that was over 15 years ago and those units are still running without any issues.

All the new Bosch units are a real pain in the ass now as all the hoses are super short if you don't have water supply or elect behind the dish washer, you are in for a little surprise because installers are not responsible for plumbing and elect work. Why they did this is freaking beyond me? The old system was simple, sleek, and very easy.

I bought and installed a new panel-ready Bosch 300 series (I think around $750?) about 2 months ago and it's been great.
I didn't notice Look 171's problem because mine didn't come with a supply hose at all, so I picked the length I wanted. The drain hose was fine. ![]()

My Miele os the bomb. Silly that I am so pleased with an appliance. It is 10ish years old. Runs great. Was absolutely silent when new. Now, a little noise.
Expensive but a great value. I will buy more. |

There's a plug in the back now, unlike before, you can use any appliance cord and make it any length necessary. This damn cable only works with their plug, and its very short.

Ohhh, the AC cord?
Maybe. My AC was quite close so maybe I didn't notice. Cheers

Thanks for the input. It's my wife's decision but I'll be installing it. My existing Bosch is hard wired in. The Bosch comes with their own cored connected to a junction box. I'll be able to run the existing Romeo to the junction box then their cord to the unit. Not sure about the Miele.

Love our Miele. We have their fridge, oven and warming drawer. We had the same set of appliances in our Seattle home. When we moved here, we renovated, and bought the same set.

^ This, we are currently in the process of a remodel and I absolutely HATE dishwasher noise. Especially when you consider most floor plans today are open, where the kitchen and living rooms are virtually the same space. The LAST thing I want to hear when watching a flick is the dishwasher.

We just installed two Bosch Benchmark series dishwashers, one in the kitchen and one in our basement bar area. They are very quiet and so far work very well. Main selling point is the AquaStop feature....the unit has a tray under it with a water cut off. If it senses any water it will clamp off the water supply and protect from leaks. Having had a prior dishwasher leak on our wood floors this was the main reason we went with Bosch.

(Geez..taunting the jinkster gods)..BUT...We have had a Bosch dishwasher for 14 years now. Yes, made in New Bern, NC. It has been damn near flawless. Never needed a repair. We run a dishwasher cleaner packet once a year to keep it all sparkly looking inside. My MIL freaks out when she sees us load it. She can't believe how many food particle this thing will just eat. She has to basically prewash her dishes before loading up her dishwasher. I think hers is a GE.

FWIW the Benchmark series Bosch units are built in Germany. The lower models are not.

Just installed a Miele. Was on sale for $1,100 with 5 yr extended warranty.
Replaced a Kitchenaide that was a POS. So far, no issues with the Miele and it does an excellent job of cleaning. I have opened the door at least twice now, to load dishes, without realizing it was on. Very quiet.

We got a Bosch dishwasher about two months ago and have been very happy with it. I kind of thought it would be quieter, but it's not loud by any means.
