When I was stationed in Depoe Bay, Oregon one of the local's was named Captain Jack Sparrow. Legally I might add. Dressed like the character everyday down to the tattoo.

I got stuck sitting by him in a coffee shop one day and started talking. Before he was Sparrow, he was legally Starbuck. As in the Battlestar, Starbuck. The old male one, not the cute blonde female in the newer one.

I felt kinda bad, guy had such a whatever life, he just picks cool characters off the TV and heads to the courthouse and gets his name changed.-WW

Small Texas town from whence I came has a list of funny names.

One of the finest is T9C. Real name. Spelled that way. First name.

White guy. Big white guy.

I ended up being the "Keeper of Nicknames" for the whole county, as was my father before me.

Nicknames are not today what they used to be.

An old co-workers ex-wifes maiden name was Smellie. Even after they divorced she kept her married name.

Hey, come on guys, we're motorheads! Almost two pages before someone mentions the Unlimited hydroplane driver Tom D'Eath or the Nascar driver Dick Trickle?

(In my grade school, the Green family had three boys, Kelly, Jade and Forrest.)

Went to high school with a nice easy going guy named Richard Dong, I remember a guy on the football team making fun of him.....calling him "Dick Dong", I also remember the same dude flopping around on the hallway floor in front of his locker in a pool of his own blood & teeth.

"Ah, good evening Master Bates."

Sorry I can't remember the exact spelling but I saw a restaurant called something like the Leong Dong Cafe.

Pete , have you allways been in Denver since you got here ?

I went to school with a guy called Gareth Allcock .
His nickname was “but no balls” , which was shouted as quick as a flash as soon as his name was mentioned . Eg: twice a day in class registration , and many many times during 90 minutes of football .

Not really relevant , but thinking about “but no balls” brought a thought to my head that had me laughing .

Around 1990 I worked at a site in Manchester and the pipe superintendent was called Kent Clark .
His nickname was “man Super” :D:D:D
