Things are getting worse. Oxygen level low. Basically unresponsive, deep sleep. Sad, just wish I could tell him that he was a good father and I love him.

Stay strong, brother......

A poignant moment for me just now: signed into PPOT and the first thread I saw was this one. I was at my dad's side when he passed at exactly 0700 on Thanksgiving morning, five years ago today. I've never, and will probably never meet his equal when it comes to the sort of ethics that guided the man.

My eyes are welling as I type this - gotta go ...

Norm

Well, Dad finally let go. He passed at 0500. Godspeed Dad. Say hi the Mom and all the rest. I love you. Michael

God speed.
I know it sounds odd, but thank you for sharing his story here.
We have all either been there or will be one day. It is good to be reminded this is part of life.
Best
Les

Remember all the good times as that will help guide you as a man in the future . Sounds like the apple didn't fall too far from the tree . Good luck with the grieving and healing process each day will get a little better . Lost my dad in 1995 and still think about him almost daily .

Sorry to hear but also glad for you that the suffering is over. I'm sure he knew you loved and respected him. That's what matters, nothing else.

wdfifteen 11-23-2017 04:26 AM

May he rest in peace. God bless you for being such a good son.

May he RIP Mike. Sounds like your father had a good life and he was a good person.
Time heals somewhat but the memories live on.

I agree.

You were there for him and that is all that matters, for both of you.

Best.

Michael, No need to ever question whether or not you did the right thing here, you did. You honored him in his last days and moments by your presence and are a very good son. As odd as it may seem, and others have said, THANK YOU for sharing this part of your “life” with us. He’s celebrating with your mom and no longer suffering. May he RIP and you begin the healing process that comes with the physical separation. Revel in the good times and memories. Blessings.
